picking proofs

Okay, I just found out that the Disney photographer PICKS the 12 proofs that go into your wedding portfolio(for the intimate wedding package). I would have thought that we would at least get to pick which pics we wanted. Some how this does not sound fair. Was anyone else dissappointed about this?

Gosh Meranda I had no idea about this - it does sound pretty poor to me that you can't choose after all what looks good to one person may not to another. Out of the piccies we had taken for our engagement shoot it's funny to hear which one's my friends like the most some of them I'm not that not keen on.

I just can't beleive that you don't even get to look and choose the photos you want after all you are paying for it.

At first, I was suprised by this as well, then I got to thinking and if you go to any photographer, they have certain poses that are included and ones that are extra. I think that this is the case here. They probably have 12 certain pictures that they take the same for everyone. ex: one at altar, cake cutting, kissing etc.
Then, all the extra ones would be extra, so really if you think about it this way, it doesn't sound so bad.
Now, I have not had my intimate wedding yet, so really I don't know, but this is what I am guessing.

Photos to be included are as follows (in folio): bride alone, groom alone, bride and groom together, vows, kiss, cake cutting, toast, dance, one document (rings, bouquet, or sign marquees); the remaining three will be up to the photographers choice.

Thus you do not get a choice of the folio photos.

For $225 you can get a 4x6 print of each shot though, but you must ask for this prior to the wedding. The person who gave this info had aproximately 108 pictures on our CD, and since I requested the proofs AFTER the wedding (they didn't tell me about the option for the $225 before), they were going to charge us $5 per photo, totalling $540 and you have to get them all, can't pick and choose.

One more thing: 3 years after your wedding, you can purchase the high resultion CD that they use to make your prints so you can then print high quality pictures up to the 8X10 size yourself. It's just like purchasing the negatives from your photographer for traditional camera pictures. The going rate right now for that CD is $99.

Just to give you a scenerio-lets say I get married and decide I am only going to get the portfolio-which means I would not pay any extra, then a couple months later, I decide that I really wanted to buy those other ones-can I? How long does disney keep pics on file?

My understanding is that they keep that high resolution CD on file for 3 years, so you can call them and have prints made, but then you can purchase the CD from them after the 3 years.

Is this $225 for ALL the 4x6 prints that the photographer takes at the ceremony? About how many does he take? Are all the pic of Bride and groom, or are family pic included?

Does this apply to a custom wedding package also?

This sort of annoys me. I already prepared them for me, I am basically going to be directing the photographer and telling him what we want. I also made him a scrapbook of sample photos. I want my portfolio to be what I want, not what they choose.

Jenny, I am sure that the custom weddings are different. You get to pick your own photos.

Jenny for a custom you definitely get to choose your own an they upload them all to their site so that you and your guests can see them online.

I don't see why they can't do this for the intimate weddings too.

I agree though, it is a shame that an intimate can't be the same. Why is that? you are still spending money, and they are not in the pics, YOU are.

I have to say that is a strange call on their part.
