Picking a resort shouldn't be this hard!

We are booked for POR and I have flip-flopped between many resorts and was finally ok with my decision. Now I'm flip-flopping again but this time, I'm leaning at getting 2 rooms for our family of 5 instead of just one. In doing this, I now have a few more options. I like bits and pieces of so many resorts that it's hard to decide which comes out in front for me (don't want to split stay since after Disney we're going to Universal). First world problems I know, but frustrating nonetheless. If only money were no object

We loved POR in March and didn't get to spend as much time there as we wanted. We plan to stay there again on our next trip. Is there something that concerns you about POR? Or are all of the hotels just so cool that you can't decide? I do have to say that 5 in a POR room is a bit tight. We had 3 and were fine, but it did feel smaller than our previous stays at Poly. How would you handle 2 rooms? Who would stay in each room?

I watched a few videos on YouTube that give a better perspective of the size of the rooms than the pics on Disney's site. I really don't think I can handle the tight quarters for 8 nights. My dilemma is what happens if I don't get connecting rooms? My second choice I think would then be either the cabins or AoA. So should I pick my 2nd or 3rd choice so I eliminate the connecting room variable. That doesn't seem right since the only thing I like about them are the room configurations. If I do decide to take the chance on 2 rooms, which mod would give me the greater chance at getting connecting rooms?

Unfortunately, I know nothing about connecting rooms. We have never needed one. Good luck. Hopefully someone knowledgeable about connecting rooms can help.

You'd have to do what me and my wife did for the 2 trips we didn't get connecting rooms. Me in one room with 3 kids and my wife in the other room with the other 2 kids. One time we weren't even in the same building, the other time same building different floors.

That is why the Family Suites and the Cabins are popular (and more $$ than 2 rooms), no need to worry about getting connecting rooms.

If I do decide to take the chance on 2 rooms, which mod would give me the greater chance at getting connecting rooms?

All of the moderates have the same ratio of connecting rooms to total rooms, so none of them will give you a better choice.

if that were the case, since we can fit 5 in a room at POR, I'd rather just have 1 room then. I'm sure they wouldn't let me cancel without penalty.

I don't like your answer but it's good to know....thanks.

I'm sorry just have to laugh a little about this. My mom and dad got divorced before I was born, but always took us on vacation together but asked for different buildings, or floors, so us kids could run back and forth but they were not together. At DLR twice they put us in connecting rooms even when we asked not to. At POR and POFQ we requested not and had to change after a night or two just to get space between them. Now they are remarrying but I laugh that we wanted to be seperated and could not be, you want to be together and could not be.

Wow, that IS funny. Well, NOW it's funny. :rotfl2: I didn't think it was so funny at the time. :furious:

What about two rooms at CSR in Business class? That wY you will all be in the same building for sure and you will hVe brreakfast included.

Or, you could just book one room at a deluxe instead of 2 rooms at mods? Perhaps CR GW GV? These rooms are huge and comfortable with lots of space for 5. Plus you can walk to the MK.

I really think that an AOA suite or an ASMu suite might work for you as well. Finally, there is the FW cabins. You get a full kitchen with those if you want to cook some meals.

What would I do? If I had the budget, I would do CR GW first, AOA suite second choice and CSR as third choice. It would all depend upon the prices Nd potential discounts.

Good luck!

If money is a factor, _I_ would get two rooms at a value (NOT LM) and ask for connecting rooms.

5 people in one room for anything more than a couple of nights would be pushing it for me. JUST having 2 bathrooms would make it worthwhile.......

If you are second guessing TWO rooms at POR--don't! Multiple pools, the boat ride to DTD and IMHO the best food court on WDW property.

We are doing 5 in a room at a deluxe rather than getting 2 rooms at a value. It is going to be a tight fit, but the benefits of the deluxe (including a balcony) will hopefully make up for the sharing of space.

and if you went with 2 rooms you would need to have the adults split up since there is a minimum age requirement for a room. I would go with AOA in your circumstances or a FW cabin. Also check into it but a believe the rooms at CBR are larger than those at POR.

I'd rather not lose the queen size beds. Thanks for your thoughts on POR. I have a good price at POR and while I'm not ruling it out, now that I don't 'have' to stay there because there are 5 of us, I'm looking at CSR now too. CBR doesn't really appeal to me.

It's still cheaper to get 2 rooms at a moderate than 1 room in a deluxe, as things are right now. Therefore, I feel like I'm paying more for less - less beds, less bathrooms, less space. We've rented dvc points previously and stayed at AKL - Jambo, the balcony was nice but we didn't really use it much. The evenings in November can be cool.

I know people say CBR rooms are slightly bigger but when I google room layout for cbr, it shows it as 314 sq ft, like POR/FQ and CSR. Perhaps, the layout I'm looking at is incorrect.

Several years ago, we committed to staying at every Disney resort. :)

Every year, we have tried somewhere new and it has been a super fun process!!

Next year we will knock 2 more off the list (likely BWI and AKL) since we are going to do bookend resort stays to a Disney cruise.

Once we've gotten through them all (with the exception of FW Cabins, no interest), we will head back to our favorites. :)

CSR (and CBR) are the only resorts where I WOULD pay extra for a preferred location. I really enjoyed my stay at CSR and would not hesitate to return.

That seems strange. I think I'd still do a room at a deluxe rather than risking getting split up into two rooms in different areas, though. Once discounts come out maybe look at it again and see. I do know that while it's not guaranteed, Disney does make an effort to grant connecting room requests when there are children involved. Good luck with whatever you decide.
