Pick your own car at Budget MCO?

We usually rent from Alamo, which allows you to pick your own car from anything in the car class aisle. But this time Budget has better rates so I am tempted to go with them instead. Last time we rented from Budget at MCO, I thought the car was assigned. Can anyone confirm? We are not Fastbreak members. Thanks!

Yes, Budget will have a car assigned to you on the board at the Fastbreak counter in the garage.

They have been pretty accommodating in the past if we did not like the assigned car but a vehicle switch did cause a delay in our departure since paperwork had to be cancelled and reissued with the new vehicle.

Yes, we flew into MCO Nov. 15 and were able to go straight to the garage, pick up our paperwork at the Fastbreak kiosk, then find our car in the spot shown on the paperwork. Very easy and quick!

Just realized you asked about picking your own car. We did not pick our own car -- it was already assigned to us, and the Fastbreak paperwork told us which parking spot it was in.

I figured that is what happened!! Appreciate the info!! I’m going to hold out for Alamo because we like to pick our own car!!

Budget seems to have great rates in FL right now. We were able to reserve a minivan from MIA for about $50 a day after adding in all the fees and taxes.

I have always used Alamo with either BJs discount code or Costco discount code. Mainly because they allow you to choose your own car. This year I am seeing better rates at Budget and sometimes Avis. I don't like the idea of Budget/Avis choosing the vehicle. If it were only for a week or less, I probably wouldn't care. But if I am there for 3-4 weeks, I prefer to choose what I want. I drive alot and want to be comfortable. It's not just transportation to and from parks for me. It's day trips to other parts of Florida like beaches and shopping outlet excursions. For me the vehicle is an accessory that has to match and coordinate with my vacation. Size, style and color of vehicle are important to me. Therefore, I guess I answered my question. I better stick with rental companies that will allow me to choose.

We vowed to never rent budget again because there was a 3 hour line to get a car for one of our trips. Does Fastbreak really work? Do you have to wait in a long line in the garage? With National, if you book midsize or larger and are in their loyalty program, you can just go to the exec aisle and pick a car, no garage kiosk needed. But budget rates are way better...

Was just there two weeks ago and yes they still assign. I had an issue with the first car as it smelled of cigar. Fast Break window helped me but they had to call to get the car reassigned. Ironically the second car they gave me had a strange smell too but being it was cold out seemed ok. Turns out in the heat of the day that one smelled of cigarettes. If Budgets wasn't $75 less than Alamo I would no way rent there again.
