Our flight back to reality is at 7:50pm on a Thursday. I am still flip-flopping between just taking an Uber and scheduling a car service. I like the cost of the Uber, but I definitely prefer the service provided by the private car companies. We usually have a flight around 3pm so we leave around noon, right after we grab lunch. I have no idea how traffic is in Orlando on a weeknight and we will be leaving right around "rush hour". It's just DH and I and we both have TSA-Precheck, but we will probably have a bag to check (SWA). Neither of us want to wait around the airport too long, but I also don't want to find ourselves stuck in traffic. What is a "target" time that I should either schedule a pickup or plan to leave via Uber??

If it were us, we'd get picked up no later than 5/5:15, but that might not be you. You're right, traffic is likely to be an issue. You just don't know how much of an issue. You don't mention which resort you're leaving from, but even with clear traffic it's a 30-minute+ drive. It's possible, especially if you do Uber, traffic could be an issue for them getting to you, as well, so we'd allow a few extra minutes. We'd rather spend an extra 30 minutes relaxing at the airport waiting on the plane to board than have an anxious time in traffic hoping we make the flight. We also have TSA-Pre and have flown out of MCO often. Even the TSA-Pre line can be lengthy some evenings there - it's likely you won't just be walking through, but might need 10-20 minutes for security. Again, that's as much an unknown as the potential traffic issues. Good luck, and have a fun trip!

Just my opinion...
I want to be walking through the doors of MCO (assuming bags to check) two hours before the flight. So that would be 5:50P.
SHOULD be 30-35 minutes of travel, but as you say, you're hitting the start of rush hour. So, I'd allow 50 minutes. So, pick up at 5p.

Everything goes well, no issues? OK, through security by 5:45. Get a meal (not just fast food), and wander to the gate. You should have 20-30 minutes before they start boarding.

Thank you both!

I was planning on a 5pm departure so I am glad that I was on the right track. If there's anthing else I'm not thinking about, I'm all ears:earboy2:.
