Here are some details...
1) Friday night in October
2) Two adults...my mother and I
3) Staying on property (Pop Century) with no car
4) Tables in Wonderland card holder
5) Neither of us like seafood
6) Timing is flexible and we would prefer not to have an ADR, but I'm willing to make one if I can absolutely decide on which restaurant we want to try.

Here are some of the restaurants I am considering, as well as a few notes about each...

1) Sanaa...love it! I've eaten there 3 times and it is one of my favorites, but it's not a no-brainer choice because I like to try a new restaurant on each trip. We may actually go there for lunch instead.
2) Artist Point...I have eaten here twice and the food is wonderful. The portions are large enough that we can share an entree.
3) Kona Cafe...I've only eaten here once and it was pretty good and again, the portions were shareable.
4) Citrico's...I've NEVER been there! It looks like (expensive) Italian food. We aren't huge eaters so I think an app (or maybe two) and an entree would be enough...but not sure if they are good about splitting plates and sharing meals.
5) Jiko...I've only eaten there once (on my honeymoon) and I'd like to try it again, but it is VERY pricey and the menu choices may be too "exotic" for my mom. I was thinking about sitting at the counter and taking advantage of the show kitchen and interaction with the chefs.

So out of those 5, which would you choose and why? Vote for only one, but feel free to comment:flower3:.

Great details.

Sanaa - dinner in October - will there be enough daylight to enjoy animals? While you've been, favorites make wonderful birthday meals.
Artists Point - a lovely place, but inconvenient without a car - no? Also, best entree is Salmon cooked/served on Cedar Plank.
Kona Cafe - best three-meal menu at Disney, but is it special for dinner???? Sushi is a recommended item here.
Citrico's - Grand Floridian is a lovely stroll, particularly with live music. Fireworks view from outside the building. Is it really more expensive than Jikos?
Jiko's - we love curry restaurants, but found Jiko to be nothing special. Frankly, we prefer Sanaa. If Sanaa is OK, Jiko is really no more exotic.

With a Mom (and you've never been) - Grand Floridian tips the scale…..Citrico's.

If I were you, I think I'd agree with PP and go with Citricos for your birthday dinner. It sounds like a nice choice for you and your mom and ending things with a nice stroll around GF will be a great birthday treat. I'd also maybe do Sanaa for lunch at some point during your stay so that way you get to experience the view. We are doing dinner there in December- just the way schedules worked out- and are lamenting that we won't get the view this time. Plus that way you get to do an old favorite AND something new!

The only other possibility/choice you listed that I'm familiar with is Kona, and I'd somewhat agree with PP that the ambiance (or lack thereof) may not be special enough for a birthday dinner- at least compared to your other possibilities, so that's something to think about....that is, unless you want to indulge in a Lapu Lapu (see my profile pic, which was taken at Kona). Lapu Lapus are certainly birthday worthy! ;)

Have fun!

I also figured that choosing a MK-area resort would allow us to eat an early dinner and then head over to TOTWL to enjoy Hallowishes, then a quick walk to the MK bus stop to head back to Pop Century.

The only ones that I have eaten at before are Artist's Point and Citricos. Like them both and have picked Citricos for my birthday this year because I think the menu will be the most appealing to the rest of my family.
