My daughter picked a pearl at the Japan pavillion this summer and we were wondering if they had this anywhere at Disneyland.

We thought it would be neat to have the pearl placed into a setting at Disneyland.

Does anyone happen to know what the simplest necklace setting might cost?

Thanks!

well
when i was there in DTD there was a cute little stand. 20 dollers or something for a pearl picking you open it up and keep whats there. I wanted a black pearl for a special reason so the guy looked though all his jewely and found a necklace i could of got for my mom with the black pearl on it for 20. (we almost did it and next time im thinking i will but that time we passed it up)

They have a little spot in DTD but they aren't cheap. We did this one of our trips over the last 12months and DBF got all 3 of us gals a pearl necklace, it ended up costing him over $600, that was for 3 pearls (we picked the oysters, that was COOL!), 1 gold setting with 2 dolphins, 1 white gold setting with 2 dolphins and 1 white gold setting with 3 dolphins and 2 white gold chains and 1 gold chain. I'm wearing mine right now and love it, I always get compliments on it. The girls love theirs too, they don't wear them unless it's a special occasion though. :)

Last year we stopped by that kiosk and my DBF bought me a pearl necklace. I had my birthday button and the awesome guy working there gave me a free oyster to open for my birthday present. I still have it and I want to take it to get set..

Go check it out though, it might be close to what you experienced at WDW!

Yes, there is a little kiosk in DTD where you can pick an oyster, open it and then if you want they have different pieces that you can have it set in. We did this a couple years ago with my dd and she loved it. I think at that time it was 14 or 15 dollars for the pearl and then we had it set on the simplest necklace they had which I think was another $20 (without a chain) so it was about 35 dollars all together. Of course they have other, fancier settings as well.

I am not sure if you can ask them to drill the pearl so you can have it set at home. It is farily easy to do get jewelers cement jsut need a dab. place on the post and then put on the setting. By doing this you might be able to get a setting for not to much -- please remember to check the size of the pearl against the size of the setting. In the past the nicest setting -gold-- at the best price used to be the whales tail. This was true in disney world as in Disneyland and hawaii.

Hope this helps a bit

They were $12.95 last July and yes, there are much cheaper settings but DBF didn't go cheap. LOL We did save them and he gave them to the girls for Christmast last year. :)

I don't remember what setting they had. You can do a search online for The Pearl Factory and you will find their website, it will show you some of what they will have available.

My dad took a Hawaii trip a few years back and became obsessed with pick-a-pearl. He picked a pearl at almost every kiosk he passed!

Anywho - that experience taught him a valuable tip: Pick the UGLIEST oyster you can find. He came back from the trip with many colored pearls and many doubles! Meaning, the UGLIEST oysters had either colored pearls in them or had two matching pearls.

Lucky guy.

When I was in Maui in March the Pearl Factory cart had a Mickey ears pendant. I couldn't pass that up...just have to have the pearl which was at home set on it. :)

see im trying to replace something of my moms. a black pearl she got in hawaii
but i never did the pick an oyster thing i may do that just for fun and see what kind of setting i could find for it later when had money.

I checked with The Pearl Factory...they still have the mickey hats...they are in white gold and $149, just incase someone is interested.

OOOo I've never done this before, I'd love to though. If I was just to get a simple pearl set in a simple white gold or silver setting, would it be inexpensive ?

Ooooo does anyone know where in DTD the Pick-a-Pearl stand is? I've done it in San Francisco once and I loved it!!! I would love to do it at DL and maybe get a matching one with my best friend. It's her first time at DL so I think something like that would be special!princess: princess:

I looked online on their website and the cheapest necklace setting they have is $29.99. I'm sure they have more available at the kiosk. I want to get the pearl I got set in a ring, but all the ring settings they have online are more than $200, which is more than I want to spend right now..

Getting to open the oyster is neat!! They ring a loud bell and everyone yells, ALLOOOHHHA!!!!!!! :woohoo:
