How much does this cost? Can you get a necklace made? Thanks for the help!

My girls did it in March. I think it was around $12 to pick the pearl. After that the cost depends on how you want it mounted. If I remember correctly it starts at about $15 for a simple setting, but can get much more expensive. This was a fun experience for my girls, and a nice souvenier.

In April me, my husband, and my son picked a pearl each and it was really fun. It was about $14 in April ($13 and some change, but then tax on it) and they have a whole lot of different jewelry you can get it set in or on. Rings, earings, necklaces, pendants, matching sets. A very, very simple setting was $10 (no strand, just basicly having the pearl put on a loop so you can put it on a necklace)

we did this for the first time this last trip to WDW. Instead of getting ours in Japan we did at the DTD kiosk. We had a great time. DD picked an 8.5 mm pearl. it was huge. we had it set in a sterling setting and put it on a chain...I don't think we spent more than $50 for the setting...cost of picking teh oyster was about $13 I think. I also got one and paid a bit more for my setting. I got a "blue" pearl, which of course is gray in color. Had mine set in a white gold with a little diamond. This was a little bit more but couldn't tell you how much for sure. DS and DH got into the act and each picked an oyster too. We tried to get a matching set for earrings but sizes and colors were a little different. I highly reccommend doing this in either Japan or DTD. We had a great time.

Thanks so much for the help! I think my dd and I will do this in Japan:)

We did it in the Japan pavillion--pearl was around $13. Chose a setting and chain for around $50.

Then last year, my daughter begged me to do it again. She picked an oyster with 2 pearls inside--very close in size--7.25mm. So now I have earrings!! Got them set for around $50 too I believe.

I could watch them open oysters over and over and over!!

Anyone know the approximate price for a ring??
We are suppose to do this in October and it'll be by anniversary gift from DH.

This is exactly what we did 2 weeks ago for our 24th anniversary. The whole thing cost DH $207, which I think was kind of high but I picked a setting that had diamonds on each side of the pearl. It was the second setting she showed me, and price was not an issue to DH ("If you like it, we'll buy it") I think he would have been mad if I'd said "That's too much-let's pick a less expensive one". There were lots of settings, probably many for alot less.

We only had to wait about 5 minutes, but then she wrapped it in like scotch tape and put it in a pouch. I had to wait 24 hours to wear it.

So there are pearls each time you pick?

My boys couldn't care about this, but I thought what a great gift for them to give me..... :teeth:

I was there once and the oyster was empty. If that happens, they let you pick another one. My girls have been picking pearls for a few years. I have been saving them, and I am going to have something made this year for my daughter's first holy communion. We are going down in November. It is a tradition with us.

Good to know, thanks. Time to start hinting around to them I want to do this, but can I "afford" it? :lmao:
