I'm going to do pick a pearl with my daughter for a keepsake is there anything to do for boys? I also have two boys that I would like to do something special with.

Any suggestions

Thanks:)

I don't have any suggesstions, but could you tell me what pick a pearl is? I have 2 daughters so it might be something nice I can do with mine

my sons liked the pearls, too. They are "treasure." They each have one they picked on some trip.

For our 3 boys we purchased an engraved baseball bat at Team Mickey Athletic Club in Downtown Disney.

From Deb's site: "Rawlings Making the Game, which opened in September 2007, features an area where you can get a custom-made bat, complete with your name, signature, or logo engraved into the wood. There are also other customized baseball-related items available, such as helmets, and display cases."

ETA: Our son had his full name and a Walt Disney World logo engraved on his bat.

The pick a pearl is in the Japan pavillon and at DTD. I did the one in DTD. You pay $16.00 for the oyster you pick up with large chop sticks and put it into a bowl and the CM will open it and show you your pearl, give alittle history, ring the bell, etc... You then can pick out a setting, ring, earrings, necklace pendent, chain, whatever you like. Just a FYI, it can get very expensive. I just paid $188.00 for the pearl, heart cage and a long chain for my sister's birthday. It was a great experience for my 4 yr old son, he got to see where a pearl comes from. DS loves her present, sorry no pics. It is something to try at least once, I'm glad I did. You never know what you'll get, twin pearls, gold pearls, white, black, etc.... I have heard you can bring a setting with you though. Might be a little cheaper for you. :)

My husband and I were just talking about this last night.

Our DD enjoys the Pick-A-Pearl at Epcot's Japan so we thought we would do that again. Our son (age 6) LOVED the T-Rex experience at KC so we will be taking him to the T-Rex at DTD so he can get stuff from the Build-A-Dino area.

DO you mind me asking how much you paid for the baseball bat ??
thanks !

I like that idea and will look into it when we're there.

Our kids loved T-Rex at the Legends in KC too. We don't have ADR's for our upcoming trip to WDW. Has anyone had any luck with walk-ups at T-Rex?

Our boys three favorite stores for souvenirs, in order:

1. The Lego Store at DTD
2. Tattoine Traders
3. Once Upon a Toy

On the last trip, they purchased Clone Trooper helmets from Tattoine Traders as their main souvenir. On most trips, they purchase a lego set as their main souvenir.

They also like the Indiana Jones store and beg each and every trip for one of the wooden guns, but we alway say no. Such bad parents.

Another fun place to look for a souvenir is the same Japanese Dept store where you can pick a pearl. They have lots of stuff for boys there too.

Do you remember how long it took for them to do this? Is it something they do while you wait or do you have to come back another day to pick it up? My son would LOVE to do this, so I need to decide how early in the week we go. Right now we don't plan to go to DTD until later in the week. Thanks!

Oooo...good question! I don't remember specifically, but my best guess would be around $50 - $75.

It's a very neat experience. They even display the actual engraving up on a TV screen so you can see it as it happens.

In our experience, they did it right away, while we waited - and WATCHED too! However, we were there during a slow time, later in the evening, and there were no other customers waiting.

We picked up cinderella carriage cage for 3 bucks on ebay. (if the GD was bigger maybe I would consider a more expensive necklace-- but this one will do til them.
