Piano Teacher vs. Piano School?

My dd11 has been taking lessons for over 3 years. She currently goes to a piano teachers house for a 1/2 hour lesson. I have noticed at piano parties, that the teacher has, that my dd is one of the oldest students. I don't know if she is really getting everything out of the piano she could be and my dh feels the same way. I know that there are schools of music out there and I was wondering if anyone has put their child into such a program and how did they like it? And how was structured?

At 11 your daughter is not too old for lessons.
3 years is not a very long time to have taken lessons, especially for someone that started so late.
Do you have a local college that might have Cont. Ed. Credit Free classes?
My DD goes to lessons and then a 3 hour group class, with a wide age range, once a week.
It is advantagous to have varied instructors teaching the same instrument. They each have their own methods and vary upon what they teach.
Meanwhile, keep her practicing, get those scales and chords down and the rest is a breeze, well at least the rest is easier!

I didn't know there were piano "schools". I know about Interlochen but I think you already have to be pretty advanced to be admitted. It's a pretty school, though.

I have an 11yodd and I was wondering what your dd says about the teacher, parties and such???? Does she think the teacher stinks???

That being said my dd started the saxophone last year at a music "school". They are all over the place if you start looking into it. She loved the intructor an older gentlemen in his late 70s. She did this for about 6 months.
Now she is in the school band so I don't have to have an instructor BUT I could see where the one on one would help her.

If your dd is ready to move on then start bouncing till you find the perfect fit. Might take a bit but might be worth the effort.
