I have a question about applying for a Professional Internship. I know it is good to send a cover letter when applying for a job and a thank you letter after an interview. Do I have to do either of these (or both) when applying for a Disney Professional Internship? Since the process is online and over the phone, would I be able to do this?

I know that for the one i just applied to that i needed to submit a cover letter. As to follow ups, they really don't want it because there are thousands of applicants and they are only going to choose people based on their application and interview. I think that 1000 applicants doing follow-ups might be a bit overwhelming for them haha.

Good luck! Which are you applying for?

In your cover letter you should include in your conclusion that you will follow up in a specific time (three weeks or two is usually good). Follow up. If there are 1000 applicants and you are one of the few who actually follow up and show initiative you have a better chance. It shows you want the job. If you have the ability to email or send a thank you letter DO IT. It shows professionalism and respect to your prospective employer.

Q. When should I follow up on my submitted résumé to an internship?

A. Disney Professional Recruiting receives hundreds of résumés for each internship that is posted. Due to the high volume of responses, we are only able to contact those applicants we are interested in interviewing.

that was from the FAQ on the PI sight. I guess it couldn't hurt to follow up

After reading that I would assume that they would contact you somewhat in a timely manner but if they don't contact you in three or four weeks I would follow up. But that's just what I have been taught in my classes from my professors... If you get to interview and have means to thank them via a letter I would. :) Just going off what I have been told by professors and guest speakers in my senior classes I'm currently taking.

thanks for that. i was taught that as well, but I wasn't so sure for the PI because of FAQ's like that

Yeah Disney is kinda hard to work with if you are following what everyone else tells you. They do things a lot different from other companies but it's always good to try and stand out and show why you are the right one for the job. A tip I learned tonight from a professor, before an interview prep by reading over their most current financial statments (Public posted) it helps you understand where money is coming from and know about any developments in the company that might relate to what you are applying for. Companies appreciate if you take the time to learn about their business and showing you can help them take it to new heights. Also another thing I have been told is to show that you understand the company's culture and heritage is a plus too :)

Hey guys! Do you happen to know if you are supposed to only submit one resume which will be used for all positions you are applying for? Or do you submit unique resumes for each position? Also it has you upload a resume but there is also a box that says resume. Are you supposed to both upload it and copy and paste it into that box?

Thank you!
