We just moved to a new area so I am thinking about going in for a physical/ check-up to meet my new doctor. I've never gone in just for a physical on my own before, just when starting a new job.

I am just wondering what a physical includes. Does it include checking the "woman parts"? ( including pap's). If it does I won't schedule a check-up with the gyn yet. Is it a disrobe type of visit? ( just wondering because my job physical's were not)

Thanks for any responses as I am one of those people that dread going to the doctor so it would help alot to know what to expect ahead of time.

It depends on the doctor and your age. They won't do your annual women's exam unless you want them to. Basically, it will probably include listening to your heart, checking your blood pressure, and other basic things. They may also draw your blood and test it for some routine things, like iron. There could be other more involved tests if you have health problems or are at the age where you need mamograms, colon health screening, etc., but those would have to be scheduled separately at just about all offices. I don't like going to the doctor either, but I would try not to worry about this at all. The only uncomfortable test will probably be the blood test, and that's not bad at all.
