PHP tickets: where to buy, is it safe?

Just wondering what places (other than the obvious buy-in-advance from WDW) folks have used for PHP purchases.

If you have used services of an outside org (like AAA, or ticketmania.com, etc), how would you rate the experience?

We always bought our tickets at the resort -- nice, because they would just put it on our room key. But the $$ savings of an outside vendor is very attractive, especially considering that we will need to buy about 7 PHP tickets... (yikes!)

How do the tickets from these outside vendors "look"? Paper or plastic? Anybody ever get scammed (i.e. the pass wasn't what you thought it was, limitations on use, etc.)

Any and all input -- good bad or ugly -- appreciated!

THANKS

I have used Floridaorlandotickets.com and ticketmania.com and I would rate them both excellent. They send all sorts of good stuff with the tickets too, informational and coupons etc.
The tickets are paper, no expiration and no, I never got scammed from either of these folks. They deliver what they promise.

They are paper?

I can't imagine how a 7 day hopper plus will look after our gang gets hold of it...

I thought the Disney Store versions were plastic -- but these on-line retailers aren't?

That could actually be a deciding factor for me... We usually buy 7 day PHP passes and have a plus or day or 2 left over to carry into our next trip... I'd rather have something more concrete (well, plastic, anyway!) than paper.

The coupons have expiration dates, I'm sure -- so it probably doesn't pay to order passes well in advance of a trip if you're wanting to use the "extras" they enclose.

(Our next trip is 11 mos away, but I figured why not get passes now... they will only go up in price.)

This year we bought our 7-day PHP from: www.paramountinternationaltravel.com Passes were $301 each (including tax) and came with a free breakfast voucher. We dealt with Rosa, and she was great!

Paramount has a $15.00 shipping fee (per order), but they still worked out to have the cheapest "total" price.

Our passes were "paper" also. But it's like tyvek - they don't tear easily. :) Make sure you photocopy or write down the serial numbers from the back of the passes. That way you'll be able to get them replaced if they're lost or damaged.

They may be paper, but, they are certainly strong. I use my annual passes often and have never had a problem with them holding up.
You have to be a pretty strong person to wreck them, and if you do, they will replace them at no charge.

We also ordered through "Rosa" and the transaction went through w/o a hitch.

Just one note: I don't know if they still do this but when we ordered they asked us to fax the photocopies of the front and back of the credit card we were using. I called Rosa and told her I felt uncomfortable doing this and she said many people do and just not to worry about it, just fax the signed sheet back minus the credit card photocopy. We did this and rec'ed our passes promptly along with a nice Disney brochure, photocopies of our tickets (so I didn't have to do it) and our free vouchers for a Character Breakfast.

I have only ever read positive comments about Paramount here on the DIS.

I don't see the breakfast voucher mentioned at the Paramount site. Also - the link didn't work because a letter was missing: http://www.paramountinternationaltravel.com

 You're right NancyIL. Thanks for posting the correct link. :o

I believe the vouchers are still available, but you have to call Paramount to get them (1-888-281-6699)

I would also like to add that at the time of our purchase, the 6 day passes were not listed on the website but were available for purchase by calling. I didn't use the website for anything, Rosa was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient!

There was a thread a few months back where someone purchased their tickets at the Paramount Office in Orlando.
Rosa does exist and they say she is as nice in person as she is on the phone!

We purchased 10 day world passes from Paramount and it was a perfect transaction with a 2 day turnaround. Rosa is VERY efficient! We received the Breakfast vouchers also. For those ordering early just keep in mind the vouchers do expire May 31, 2004. Rosa was very nice to tell us this prior to ordering. I'm sure they will get the new vouchers around the same time as Connections gets theirs.

I have paper passes that have lasted for years of use. I keep them in the Park Hopper holder (also paper) provided by the ticket sales at the TTC.:D :D

I noticed that the 10-day world passes only show up on the website if you identify yourself as an international visitor (outside of the U.S. or Canada).

Question about the breakfast vouchers: can they be used for ANY character breakfast?

The woman I talked with was filling in for Rosa. She said the 5-day and 7-day PHP does NOT come with a breakfast voucher ($301 for the 7-day), but the 6-day PHP includes breakfast for $286. Maybe I'll hear something different if I call when Rosa is there.

Hi-

I'd still recommend purchasing directly from your local disney store. I printed out the PHP prices from several websites 2 weeks ago and then called my Disney store--the Disney Store quoted cheaper prices than any of the online outlets I tried.

TTFN!

Disney Club members can get a discount on PHP passes purchased at the Disney Store - the only tickets other than Annual Passes where the DC discount makes a difference.
