Anyone buy the photopass CD if so where and how much?

Thanks!

A couple of tips if you are thinking of buying the Photopass CD that we learned on our trip. Have the photographer shoot their shots and also include at least one under or over exposed frame, they'll know how to do it. Or just ask them to shoot a blank frame.

After taking your pics for a day or two, head over to a Photopass kiosk and take a look at what has already been shot. You can add the "characters" to photos there and also you can add borders and/or characters to your blank frames. That way you can cut/paste these onto different pics at a later date with even basic photo editing software.

If you see the pics and don't think they look great, make sure you take note of why--are you not centered, smiling weird, pics taken with the sun in your eyes, etc...that will help if you continue to have the pics taken throughout the trip.

We spoke with a CM in the photo area at Epcot & they gave us some incorrect information about the resolution of the pictures on the disk. The official info we got is in the following email:

Thank you for your interest in Disney's PhotoPass CD product. Currently,
this product is only available at Epcot's Camera Center, M. Mouse
Mercantile in the Grand Floridian Resort, and at Toontown in the Magic
Kingdom. Unfortunately, this product is not currently available online
at DisneyPhotoPass.com. We are working with our partners in merchandise on a process which will
allow us to take orders and fulfill these requests directly from Walt
Disney World. We expect to have this new process in place by the middle
of March.

The cost of this PhotoCD product is currently $99.95 for all photos
associated to your PhotoPass IDs. Please note that this cost is subject
to change.

We will extend your Disney's PhotoPass photos within our database to
ensure that you will be able to order the CD product once the
fulfillment process has been established. Please reply to the email with
all of your Disney's PhotoPass numbers so that we can ensure all of your
photos will be extended. Within the next few weeks, we will notify you
via email with an update on how you can purchase this product from home.

Also, the photos are taken at a resolution of 6.1 megapixels. The actual
file size of the JPEG is 1.2 MB (megabytes); the resolution is
maintained at 6.1 megapixels. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

So, is the resolution info in the e-mail correct, so you would get good quality prints if you print them yourself? And is that what you can do with them, could you send to Shutterfly or somewhere and have them printed?

Thanks!

I haven't printed them yet, but when you purchase the CD, you also have the rights to have them printed for your personal use and I think that means however you print your photos.

You can print them whatever way you want to print them, once you pay the $99 for the CD you own the right to do what you want with them. :)

The resolution in the email is correct, according to them, as I mentioned, we didn't get the CD because we got many great shots with our own camera and didn't love the ones on the CD enough to get them at the park, esp when the CM at Epcot told us the resolution was only going to be 1.2, when it really is 6.1!

As far as the ToonTown location, the email is the first I heard of it, so it would have to be verified in person. :)

I want to thank you all for the info found on this thread. I want to get this in October as we are going with friends who have never been and another couple who the woman is a DISer (wenabre) and her friend who has not been.

thanks

We just got ours on Tuesday and it was $99.95, it has 176 pictures on it! Plus, they add icons and stuff to your pics and then include the "non-touched" photos as well. It was VERY much worth it. And you can get it at the scrapbook store in Downtown disney as well, one of the photopass CM's told us that. It made for a very easy trip to pick it up after our last day in the parks.

Kellyscrapbooks, Have you printed any pics from it? If so, how good was the quality?

I glad you guys had a good time.

We did print a handful of them so far and they turned out quite nice, as good as the quality from my camera. I have an order from dotphoto of them that is currently on the way, I can let you know then how the quality is from getting prints made if you'd like!

Kellyscrapbooks, As I have just seen that these were your first 2 posts....

Welcome to the DIS!!!

:yay: :wave2:  :yay:

If you are going with a friend, you might want to put both of your families photopass cards on one cd and split the price. They will put mulitiple photopasses on a cd. When you get home, you can burn it. I believe this is legal as it was suggested by a CM at World of Memories. My sister and I did this. $50 each. You get 300 shots. We didn't come close to this!
