I am new to this design stuff and would love to make my own Character letters so I'm not bugging everyone else :) I have photoshop 7.0 and was wondering if anyone can give me some step by step instructions? I've tried using the mask tool but not sure which font is the best and how to give it the 3D look. Thanks in advance.

Keep up the good work everyone, love all the designs.

Use a fat, bold font like Impact or this one. The 3-D look is usually the bevel tool.

What I do for my Star Wars Designs...

is to create the text, duplicate the layer, simplify it, stroke it (outline), then erase the center of each letter. This creates a border for the letters which helps with readability. Add a bevel to it to give the border layer a 3-D look then turn it off.

Do the remaining steps ala the tutorial here. After you're done turn the border visible again and you'll have a 3-D look.

Should. I'm doing it in Photoshop Elements 6.0. The tutorial is a Photoshop tutorial. It happens to be the same for PSE so I don't see why it wouldn't.

oh! thank you thank you for posting these directions, I've been trying to teach myself, LOL lastnight I even had a dream about how I could do it in CS3 :rotfl: this is exactly what I needed. TY!!!
:goodvibes

Does anyone know how to do this using Corel Paint Shop Pro X2? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
