Photos at Character Dining

At Character Dining Meals are there any policies on taking pictures with the characters? I read somewhere there are fees to get pictures with the characters at meals.

Are photopass photographers usually there?

I think the fee that they are talking about is that they have you take a picture in the beginning with one character with a photopass person and then they come to your table and see if you will buy the picture. For example, at Tusker House they had us wait to be seated to have a picture done with Donald. Then they came later with the picture printed out and asked if we wanted to buy it. You aren't obligated. They did this at Chef Mickeys and the Hoop Dee Doo Review.
But you are free to take pictures yourself ( no photopass person there) at the tables, when the characters come around. Hope this helps.

There were also usually CM's with the photopass photographers that were willing to take a picture with our camera as well. Two of my favorite pictures last trip were taking by CM's at Chef Mickey's and Tusker House...they both got better shots than the photographer.

The photopass photographer that is there taking the pics, if you have a photopass card, will they use that? I would buy the pic, but I am prepurchasing a CD. Can it just be added to that? Does anyone know? I am having breakfast at CP and Cape May. Does it matter what breakfast it is at?

you can add it to your card by using the EVNT number that you get on a piece of paper with your photos BUT the only way to get that number is by purchasing the photos.

There are not photopass photographers at Cape May or CP.

BUT the only way to get that number is by purchasing the photos.

That is correct at CM and Tusker House. We did not purchase the photo package at Tusker House or Chef Mickeys. I think they wanted about 30 (maybe 40?) dollars per photo set. However, at both places we asked a CM to take a photo with our camera and both of those (free!) photos turned out great.

Many people buy the photo sets though. It is awfully hard to turn down a photo of your family when a CM stands in front of you and your kids and says don't you want this photo of your lovely family (and your kids look up at you saying buy it mommy) - especially when you know if you don't buy it that it will just be headed to the trash.

At CRT, the photo with Cinderella is included with the price of the meal. We received a large photo of the castle, and 4 copies of a precious photo of our dd with Cindy. Plus the numbers to add the photos to our photopass. I think that the photo of Belle at Akershus is included in the price. We didn't eat there though.

We also ate a character breakfast at Hollywood and Vine. There were no photopass photographers there.

There were not any photopass photographers (that we noticed) roaming inside any of the character restaurants. All the character/kid photographs inside the restaurant are taken by parents.
