Photopass is wonderful though... you can get some great pics. I would still bring your own camera though. We found alot of the pics didn't make it onto our photopass card but were on our camera. it's good to have a back up! :thumbsup2

ME! hahaha As soon as I get my photopass card, I take a picture of it with my personal camera. That way, if it gets lost I will still be able to retrieve the pics from the card. Also, when you edit your photos, be sure to put every possible border around each photo that makes sense to the picture. Example:

a family photo in front of the tree of life
Add the following borders:
All borders related to Animal Kingdom
All borders with the year on them
All borders of characters such as Mickey peeking in the corner of the photo (usually there are 5 or 6 of this type)
My favorite border is the "where dreams come true" tinkerbell border (SOOO cute)

What you would not necessarily want to add:
HS hat icon
Magic Kingdom specific icon

Also, be sure to change the size of the best pictures before you add borders for example

Do ALL photos in 4x6 format, but if you know which ones you may want to print as 5x7, or even 8x10, be sure to make an ADDITIONAL copy in THAT size and then add the border.
If you try to use a 4x6 photo on the cd and try to blow it up at a Kodak kiosk at Target, for example, the borders will get cutoff.

Also, if your kids aren't looking the right direction or something, try cropping it to only having the adults showing in the photo. Sometimes you must change the direction of the photo for this to work well, but it gives you a way to still use the photo even if everyone isn't looking their best!

I generally get at least 200 photos taken every trip and I am able to turn them in to over 1000 photos! It takes a lot of time to do the editing, but it is totally worth it in the end!

Ok... How do you obtain a PhotoPass Card to begin with?? And, when meeting characters, do the photographers ask for the card if you have one?

they sent us one in the mail before our trip, but every Disney Photopass photographer will have them. When you get your first picture taken just tell them you don't have a card and they will give you one. Then every other picture you do the photographer will ask for your card. You can enter more than one card number into your account. Some people get a new card at each park or a new card for each day, but I try to use the same card the whole time. Also, as I mentioned above, it is a good idea to take a picture of the back of the card just in case it gets lost because there is NO easy way to locate your pictures without the card. If you lose it, you'll have the number and you can just get a new card and continue on so none of those great memories are lost. Also, if you do any of the hard ticketed events such as the Halloween or Christmas parties, you will want to get the specific photopass card for those events (upon arrival for the event) as they usually include special borders and discounts. Hope this helps!

We got one in the mail w/ our Disney paperwork but it was in our bag (at bell services) when we first hit the park...the first photopass photog that we saw right outside MK gave us one. We got a separate one for MNSSHP though. It's really SOOO worth getting.
On that link for Stitch Kingdom that I gave you, they give you the different areas in each park where you can get "special effects" like holding Tinkerbell or Baby Simba, etc. I wish I made a little list of these before we went because I totally forgot where you could get these great effects.

This is good information. I am curious, will PhotoPass Photographers take pictures with people's personal cameras, too? That would be GREAT! :thumbsup2 But totally understandable if they couldn't do it.

Photopass photographers are not allowed to tkae pictures with personal cameras but if you ask any other cast member they will do it for you. We have gotten some wonderful pictures this way.

when we were there last June one of the PPs asked us if we would like him to take one with our camera! LOL! So it can happen, but I doubt it is very common.

Each time we had a photopass photographer take our picture, they also asked us if we wanted them to take one w/ our camera. We found that with each photopass photographer that took our picture. Alot of the time that our DD was getting her pic alone ( like at CRT) I just took the pics w/ our camera while the photopass photog was also taking them.

I love the Disney PhotoPass, but bring a camera also.... Not all chacter's have a photopass. They take great pictures, and very creative ones for the kids, holding tink, baby Simba, ect.... I have even seen a Halloween one where they put you with the hitchhicking ghosts. When you get your confirmation packet in the mail, you should get a photopass card with a discount. As soon as you get to one of the parks and see a Photo pass attendant, ask them for a plastic one, especially if you are planning to go on the water rides......also be sure after you ride Test Track at Epcot, swipe your photopass card, you can get your ride pic. But Be sure to order your picture's soon after your trip, I'm not exactly sure of how long you get, but It will tell you on the card. You can go online and add borders and all kind of creative stuff to the pictures, and order a cd, or just the pictures you want.

PP just mentioned about swiping your card after Test Track. Any other rides use the Photopass??
