Firsttimer! :thumbsup2

I've read on here that you can purchase a photopass(i think that is what it is called) cd which will hold all of the pictures taken by Disney's Photographers. I thought I heard it was around $100. Anyhow, just wondering two things. Will it include the pictures that are taken when you are on a Disney Attraction (Like Everest)? :Pinkbounc Also, are you able to go in and add all of the neat borders, etc.?

Thanks,

Disney's PhotoPass service has created a special offer for Disney Vacation Club Members making a Disney's PhotoPass purchase at the Camera Center at Epcot or County Bounty in Mickey's Toontown Fair at the Magic Kingdom. Through June 30, 2006, Members making qualifying purchases at these locations will enjoy a 10 percent discount off the purchase of a Disney's PhotoPass CD, which gives you long-term storage of your Walt Disney World photos. In addition to storing as many as 300 photos, each CD also includes a copyright release that allows you to reprint your photos at your local photo retailer.

There has been rumors that Disney wants to include the attraction pictures on the cd, but no word yet... we'll just have to wait and see.

I was at Disney in May. The photopass was given to me when a photographer took our first photo. As you get additional photos taken you give the card to the photographer. The photos are added to your card. At the conclusion of your trip you go online to view the photos and purchase if wanted. There is no charge unless you purchase a photo. There is the option of altering and adding boarders to the photos. A movie cd can be made of your trip also. The photos are good for 30 days. I purchased a photo of my family at AK. Very good program! Hope I was helpfull! Mary

Okay, okay, it's actually a combination of all of the above. There are 2 different ways to buy Photopass pics.

One way, the newest way, is to purchase a CD of all the photos taken by Photopass photographers. This costs $99 and can only be done at WDW, not by Internet (from what I understand). If you buy the CD, you actually get a copy of the contract that proves that you have legal permission to reproduce/print the photos (because any legitimate photo processing place won't allow you to print/reproduce professionally-taken photos that would appear to be copyrighted). However, if you buy the CD you will NOT have access to the neat borders and icons.

The other way to buy Photopass pics, the "original" way, is to buy them individually either at a park during your vacation OR, what many of us did, via Internet at home. They are available online for at least 30 days. They are expensive, I think each 5 x 7 was $12.95 last year. Also, you can't copy the file onto your computer (a lot of times at most websites you can "right-click" on photos to save them onto your computer, but Disney's website wisely won't let you do that). In addition, at no extra charge, the website allows you to add various borders and/or Disney icons to the print.

Buying the CD or not depends on how many pics you think you'll buy, and what sizes you want, and whether or not you care about the borders and icons available only through the online version.

Either way, Photopass is a GREAT idea. It costs you nothing unless you buy prints. Beware, though, I've read a few people post how disappointed they were with Photopass -- they actually expected that they would not need their own camera in the parks because there would be Photopass photographers available for their needs at every moment! That was a little naive -- even if you've never been to WDW, you have to be naive to think there are THOUSANDS of photographers walking around each park each day to handle such a workload.

I disagree w/the above poster, We went in April of 2006 & we purchased the CD for $99. I was able, prior to purchasing, get my photo's inhanced w/borders, tink, simba, stitch, etc prior to getting them put onto the CD. Don't know if anything has changed since, but you could get the neat icons & borders if you did them prior to putting them on the CD. You just couldn't change them after you take the CD home. We had around 109 photo's & then after the icons & borders we had over 200 (every time they went into a photo to ask if we wanted anything added - it copied the photo even if nothing was added). Well worth if, if you get enough photo's taken.
I would love to see them add on the photo's from the rides, that would be awsome!

As of May they no longer do enhancements (borders/signatures etc...) on the CD but they still do them for individual photos you buy from them.

It was too time-consuming.

That stinks - that was awsome to add to all the pictures. They should allow us to do our own then, like at the drug stores, etc. I would have no problem adding borders, etc myself!
I guess I should feel lucky that I was one of the last, hah?

We are going to WDW in October for our Honeymoon and are trying to decide on whether to just use the photopass photographers for our pics(of course we will take some of our own too), or pay big bucks to have our own shoot with a Disney Photographer for an hour- It would Include all the photos in a Leather bound album: 20- 4x6 photos and one larger print, (can't remember the size). A. I am worried that we wouldn't have enough time in one hour to get all the best locations and still have good pics, B. All the pictures in the shoot have to be taken at the same location, (ex. MK, or GF) C. we would be wearing the same clothes in all the pictures, (unless we wasted time in our hour to change- hence getting fewer pictures)
But with photopass we will have more variety in our pics, but I am worried also that we won't get enough pictures taken. How many photographers are there. I know I always get asked for a photo on my way into a park- but after that I don't remember. And is it rude to occupy a lot of their time, asking one photographer to take 8-10 pictures? Some of you have posted that you have taken 200 pics! There are only two of us and we will be there for 6 days. Does anyone know how many photographers there are, or if we are in the park can we ask a CM to find one for us?

For me (I'm a HUGE photo and scrapbook fanatic though .. so it's just me), but for my honeymoon I would do both.

I think the one hour with the photographer and the leather bound album/etc is worth every penny of whatever they charge. You only get one honeymoon - it is a time that the two of you will remember forever. The momento of that with the scheduled photographer is something you will cherish forever.

I've read that the photographer CM's can be hit or miss. Some people have said that they ended up with 200 photos, and I've read some that said that they had trouble finding any and didn't get many pictures on their photo pass.

With the photo pass / CD - you can decide afterwards. Take your photo pass home, log on to the site, view your pictures, and decide if you want to spent the $99 for the CD - you don't have to decide beforehand. That way, if you end up with 100 or 200 pictures that you love, the extra $100 is totally worth it (and you have like a month or so to buy it - I think I've read). BUT, if you decide against scheduling the photographer and you don't luck out and get a lot of photo pass pictures (can't find photographers/etc), then you won't have anything.

For me (again - a photography/photo/scrapbook nut), the guarantee of getting the documentation/photos that I will cherish is worth paying extra for - and the photo pass could be a great bonus/plus at the end. But I wouldn't want to count on it without the backup plan.

I was going to do the PhotoPass, then I wasn't, then after I got 1 photo, I kept getting them! They seem to be everywhere, every angle of the Castle, Epcot ball, The tree of life at AK, and the hat at MGM, we got our photo after we were on Tower of Terror, with most characters there is a PhotoPass Photographer. At MK there is a Photographer posted every 15 (or so) feet down the main road up to the castle, so you can get a picture w/the castle small to large in the pictures. At MGM, they take the photo's to make it look like you or someone in your party is wearing the hat & then just the hat centered behind you, etc. Again several places to make it smaller or larger in the picture. They had you hold your hand out to put Tinkerbell in later at MK, cupping your hands together to later put baby simba in at AK, holding a hat or pointing to the ground to later up Stitch in. They had our family smile, raise our hands in the air, put them on our hips, etc., all w/one photographer. Obviously as above, some things have changed since I was there in April, but each photographer seemed to take 2-3 easy per thing they had us do. Especially w/the characters, get them by yourselves (you then your husband) and then together. You will definately get more photo's. We went w/my family, parents & a cousin. We would get my daughter, our family, add my parents, then add my cousin - that is how we got so many photo's!
If you look for them - you will find them! You ask & they will do it!
Good luck & have fun! :cool1:

The photo CD no longer includes extra borders and such.

Also you can buy it at home after your trip from the internet.

Both of these are subject to change per Disney of course! :rotfl2:

We also bought it in April with all of the enhancements. I am dissapointed to hear that we can't get another this trip in August with the extras. It was neat because they saved the pictures both with and without on the CD. Some had character autographs or just signature from the park, etc. There are many, many opportunities to have photopass pictures taken. Characters that have a photographer by them also have them, the character area in Epcot, our whole BBB photoshoot is on ours. I thought it was worth the money because my sister and I split it and had all of the pictures from the trip on one CD and then burned a copy (which is permitted). We got either an AP or DVC discount on it too!
