PhotoPass when upgrading to AP at a park?

Hi,

I will be upgrading my 5 day ticket to an AP when I get to a park the first day of our trip. My question is, will I *immediately* be able to start getting photos added to my account and be able to access them, or is there a window of several days like there is with Memory Maker when you don't purchase it far enough ahead of time? Thanks!

Have a great trip!

I asked the same thing and got this answer, we're doing this next Thurs.:

OK, a related question. Both of us are upgrading 9 day hoppers to Platinum APs the first day there, another couple is joining us mid week, staying with us at BW officially on our ressie but with only hoppers. Will the PP thing work immediately after the upgrade and will the other couple have any access to photos?

Thanks,

Bill From PA
Based on existing reports, while the PP downloads should work immediately, there are kinks in the system that may cause it to take a while. The other couple will and won't have access. They will have access to view/purchase the photos that are associated with their MDE account, and with any that are linked to as friends/family. However, as they don't have a Photopass download entitlement with their ticket, they will not be able to download any unless they buy them. You should be able to download them on their behalf as long as they are linked as your friends/family and set to share pictures with you.

I agree-I just upgraded last Saturday-it was effective immediately and I could see and download any photos taken using my band or my husband's band (even on rides he was on without me and when he had photo pass photographer scan his band instead of mine). However only I could access the free downloads via the app or website. When he logged in he could see all the photos but would have to pay to download them through his account. Unless you are willing to download their photos and send them to them (or you trust them enough to give them your MDE account info to log in themselves) they can't access the photos for free.

It sounds like you and I are in the same boat...I keep running into your posts about this topic. We were planning on purchasing MM and splitting with 4 other friend's families who will be at WDW with or right after us. I'm nervous about just upgrading my AP to Platinum but it is cheaper than purchasing MM. But more reports are coming in about success with this situation with Friends and Family so I'm starting to feel a bit more confident, are you as well?
