has anyone ordered a photopass cd from disney, shipped to canada. I see there is a 17.00 shipping fee, which I do consider excessive but I'm willing to pay but I don't want to pay a bunch of duties, brokerage fees. KWIM

Can anyway tell me how they ship it. If its UPS I may forget it. Please can someone tell me what there experiences were with ordering cd/photobooks. I'm worried because I don't have a lot of pictures and I don't want to pay too much for what I have. Right now I have 97 pictures but that is with borders added. I only have about 8 pictures(no inhancements) that I don't have with my own camera.

How much extra should I expect. I almost checked out but it was going to cost 147 but no taxes and maybe no duties/fees so it could be close to 200? Really not sure its worth that much. why oh why didn't I do a photopass share!!!! LOL

Thanks for any information you have.

when I ordered my photopass cd last fall it was sent to me by USPS (regular mail) and I did not have to pay any duties. It just arrived in my mail box.

I pre-ordered the cd for our trip in Dec. 07, the cd arrived in a very timely fashion and I never paid a cent over the $99 fee. It did come UPS though not through the mail.

Did you both pre-purchase the CD? I think I read a post that if you pre-order the CD then there isn't a shipping charge.

Can anyone confirm this?

I didn't pre-order the cd (I wasn't even considering photopass at all) On the first evening of my trip, when I met Mickey and Minnie at MK, one of the photographers took my picture without me knowing, then handed me the card and told me how it worked! :)

Well I'm confused now too!

The website definately has a $17 shipping charge for International (Canada) for the CD. If you order prints the shipping is only $5.49.

Wonder if it's a new charge.

The charge applies if you are purchasing the CD after your trip. If you prepurchase the CD, you don't pay a shipping charge. We just got our CD from our trip in early May. It arrived by UPS, no duties.

That's what I read in another post! I will make sure I pre-order before my trip.

When I ordered my Photopass CD last October, it arrived by UPS but there was no additional taxes or duties. I think it's because they used an air or an express option - I believe you only pay duties on UPS ground shipments.

I didnt order the CD but did get the book and it was UPS and I paid about $35 just on duties. Not doing that again.

I did the pre-order cd last Dec/07- I can't remember about shipping charges....but there was NO DUTY, taxes, or brokerage.

Like the OP said it's only on ground UPS.

I'm going to wait to see what they say. I'm still confused if they send it ups then I may have to pay duties but if they ship usps i probably won't.

I only have until Thursday to decide but it looks like I may order it but next time I will pre-order it. I didn't realize you didn't have to pay shipping if you preordered it. Unfortunatly I also wasn't planning on getting the CD but changed my mind when I got down there. My advice to anyone preorder it or get on a share!!!

Thanks to everyone who responded.

You'll probably get the standard Disney answer "we don't know for sure"

The poster that got duty & taxes on the book was that a book sent from Disney? or from somewhere else?

Maybe the question to be posting is " Has ANYONE had to paid duty/taxes on photoCD's mailed from WDW? :confused3

Not that I've really noticed here before, I can't remember anyone posting that they did have to pay duty on CD's

i sent them a email earlier in the year about different options and was told that UPS was the only option for international users. After telling them that they should lower the fees( i had done a book that would have had 100pg) and the fees to ship were crazy. I waited til they responded, and unfortunately no other options were available. So, i cancel th book and went with Shutterfly. No duty charges.

You are probably right about the standard response. I'll wait but until then I'm going to take your idea and post the question now. Thanks!:)

Hi...to anyone that may still be reading or subscribing to this thread or anyone new.

The last time I ordered anything from Disney it was in 2007. I ordered the book and I remember being charged around $30 for duty and other fees. (I can't remember if it was regular shipping or UPS?) Because of that, I did not attempt to order anything new from them for my 2010 trip.

If anyone has ordered from the Disney photopass site recently, do you remember seeing any additional charges with the shipment to Canada?

Thanks,

:stitch:

This would be interesting to find out since we are to get one with the package we just purchased!

A friend ordered one from California last year, she did not have to pay duty, but the shipping was 11.95, I just called her.

We prepurchased the Photopass and book for our trip last February. l also ended up ordering a mouse pad, a couple of Christmas ornaments and a photo album. If I remember correctly they came in about 3 different packages at different times all by post. We never got charged duties on any of them. We also purchase a lot online and have for many years. Getting hit with customs and duties is very hit and miss. More often miss, though. I try and stay clear of anything that will be delivered by UPS or any other courier since the odds of having to pay duties goes up significantly by that method as the courier then acts as a broker for Canada Customs.

So the short answer would be always expect that you could have the mail person at your door with their hand out if you order anything over $20 from outside of Canada. And then hope that your package will be one of the lucky ones that just sails through.

If you bought the Memories Vacation Package, the price of the photobook and shipping (domestic or international, depending upon the address used to book the vacation) was included in the package price. :thumbsup2 Duties and "value added taxes" (UK?) are extra.

I think the photopass CD pre-purchase does not include shipping.

We're going in September and getting both the book and CD. Would be interested to know what others have had to pay.

I still have my confirmation e-mail from last year.

We went last Sept and I had pre-ordered the Photopass CD.

In October, I finished with the photos and ordered the CD. I also ordered the "WDW Gallery Photo CD". The shipping charged was $22.90. There was $0.00 showing for taxes. I was not asked to pay any duties when it arrived at my door.

Hope this helps!
