I'm new to Disney. I have a couple questions about the photopass service.

-is it really that great of a deal? $99 (pre order price) seems steep for a CD of pictures

-if i dont buy the CD, how long do the pictures that I have had taken stay in
the account?

-if I do not buy the CD, am I still able to make one of the photo books they offer?

Thanks so much!

The pre-order offer has been stopped as of the past few days. The price is now $150 unless a special promo comes out to you directly.
The photos are only available for 30 days from when you view them on your site. Is it worth doing, that is a personal choice, but IMO i found $99 a bite high but would not order if full price.
You can order the photobook but i think you also only have 30 days to work on it, otherwise your photopass photos will expire. Never done the book,(pref to make my own) but you don't have to order the CD.

I sent you a PM, but yes, you can order just the photobook to get the pics you want. We did this on our first trip. It's a very nice book, but since I've been digi scrapping I'd rather do my own. You'd have to watch how many pages you make, a book could end up costing as much as the $99 cd (if you get the code for it at the cheaper price) by adding pages. You'll only have the 30 days to work on it, but you can get an extension from Disney photopass for more time, but unless you're there for a month it shouldn't take long to put together, there aren't THAT many options.
Is it worth the cost is up to you. Compared to like $14 for just one picture through it, if you buy even a couple of their pics it's certainly worth it. But if you're already taking tons of your own pics, it may not be.

I pre ordered the photo pass CD before our trip in June. We got many, many excelent pictures. Many of them have our whole family in them and well worth it. We also have a few with characters magically showing up in our photos such as Tink and Simba. Also, you get to use WDW boarders.

I too thought the price was awfully steep, but if you concider the quality of the shots and how much a sitting fee is for family pictures it is not that bad.

If you decide to pre order or plan buying it after your trip, make sure that you check on the photopass site where Photopass CMs are located. Get as many shots as you can and dont be afraid to ask for some special shots. My dd(11) had always wanted to try a turkey leg and she finally got one while we were in EPCOT. We had a photopass CM take a picture of her with the ball in the back ground. The shot turned out very cute and was meaningful to her.

You have 30 days from the time you are in the park to register your PhotoPass code on your account. Once you enter it you have 30 days to make your album. I was out of town during that time, but had no problem getting them to extend the time. I think I extended it out another 40 days or so. They just cant do it until you only have 10 days left. They are very nice about it. They also are excelent at finding lost pictures. We had several get registered on someone elses pass, but with description of approximant time, place and person in photo, they were able to locate and add them to our account.
