we will be traveling with another couple in october and i am looking forward to using the photopass system for the 1st time. my question is can we share 1 photopass with the other couple? we obviously want pictures of the 4 of us however it would be nice to have some of just the 2 of us two. will the cast member take a group shot plus seperate couple shots as well? i just thought that if we could share a card we can split the $99 CD charge. thanks!

Yes.. you can share it.

Let the CM know what combinations of pictures you want.. they'll be more than happy to take them.

Have fun!!

Yes, you can. SIL & I planned on this during our trip, you can actually put 4 cards on your CD(more I think if you call customer service). It was awesome & so worth splitting the cost. We had 180 pictures by the time we were done editing them and all, and I took the CD to Wal-Mart & had them all printed for under $40. Way less than if we would have gotten them done at the park. :thumbsup2

Can someone explain what a photopass is or link me to a sight where I can get info? Family coming from Japan in 1 month

Just click the link in my signature that says "Click here for info on Disney's PhotoPass" to see my PhotoPass primer page. It's full of all the info you ever wanted to know about PhotoPass.

Will, your info in your siggy is AWESOME thank you for sharing!

You are appreciated more than you know!

Thanks Will for the great link - very informative!! I have never used the Photo system before, but after reading about it - I think it is a must for our Honeymoon!

we do this for our grand gathering each year. We combine all four families onto the CD and split the cost 4 ways!

Will, are there Disney people everywhere to take pictures?
Like when is the opportune time for the pictures to be taken?

Is there usually a line?
I know you get the memory card but how do you actually go about it?
What about Character Meals etc...

Can you elaborate a bit?

Thanks

Will, are there Disney people everywhere to take pictures?

Not exactly everywhere; they tend to congregate in the entrance areas of the parks (Main Street and the Hub at MK, Hollywood and Sunset Blvds at MGM, the walkway from Future World to World Showcase at Epcot, etc.) They can also be found many times (but not always) with characters in the parks.

Like when is the opportune time for the pictures to be taken?

Any time you see a PhotoPass photographer.

Is there usually a line?

Sometimes, usually not. Depends on whether the photographer is in a super popular location like the Partners statue.

I know you get the memory card but how do you actually go about it?

Approach a PhotoPass photographer. Ask them to take your picture. Tell them you don't have a PhotoPass card and they will give you one. After that, just hand your card to each photographer as you get your pic taken. Make note of the serial number on the card in case you lose it, that way you can still claim the pics when you get home.

What about Character Meals etc...

AFAIK, the photographers at character meals are not PhotoPass equipped; they are on a different system that costs more per print and they push packages.

Can you elaborate a bit?

For full elaboration, see the link in my signature.

Word is that if you go to a photo pass station and tell them where and when you at your character meals they can add that photo to your photo pass:thumbsup2

Can you still add the borders/signatures/extras to the pictures after you purchase the CD, or do you have to add them before you purchace the CD?

Do you have to add the extras while still at WDW, or can you add them at home online?

I think it's a great system, I hope to have a lot of pictures on my card in September!

Adding graphics using the PhotoPass system must be done BEFORE you purchase the CD. The CD is just a straight copy of all the pics in your account, including any that you create by adding borders or cropping.

However, once you get the CD, you have the full-size pics and can do whatever you want to them with Photoshop or any other photo editor.

The extras offered by the PhotoPass system can be added either at the PhotoPass viewing stations or online. I always recommend that people wait till they get home to add borders and signatures to their pics, because the viewing stations only have about 3 screens each, and the longer you stand there fiddling with your pics, the longer people behind you will have to wait. It's also not the most comfortable thing in the world to stand, bent over the PhotoPass counter (the screens are embedded in the countertop) for long periods to fiddle with your pics; better to do it at home, at a nice, comfy computer desk.

I also think it's a great system. It's not perfect, of course; the greatest drawback seems to be inconsistent skill levels among the photographers. But for the last few years I have been able to get pics of myself when on solo trips to WDW, which I love because I usually don't have anybody to take my own pic.

Thanks, Will! I hope to get pics of me and DH together without asking a lot of people. And I will take your advice and add the extras at home. Thanks! :)

I remember, from last year, that there was a limit as to the number of photos allowed on each CD. Does anyone know that magical number?? :goodvibes

Think I've read around 300 is the number per CD, but that if it's over that, they just make another one and add them to it and send it also.

I wish I'd found your site back when I was planning my trip, Will. It's great!

BTW, during our recent trip (7/11-7/16), my sister-in-law tagged along with my wife and I and two boys. She and my wife both had PhotoPasses and used them at various photo stops. I registered at the PhotoPass website, entered the card number my wife had, and then hoped to add the card number that my SIL was carrying. But before I could get that number, she registered on her own and added that number to her account. I really want to include both card numbers on one account so that I could get all of the photos on one CD instead of paying for two. Does anyone know if I can still add her card number to my account after she has added it to hers, or should I contact a PhotoPass representative to explain the problem?
