On day 4 of this trip I upgraded my ticket to a platinum annual pass. I can see days 3-7 of my photos without the watermark but the CM at guest relations told me that even tho my annual pass now has a start date of Day 1, I can not get those photos as I didn’t upgrade in time. Is this correct? Thanks!!

I haven't heard of this before, but I also don't know if anyone has brought the issue up before. I can see why they're saying it doesn't include your first days, since you technically hadn't had the pass yet. Your best bet is to try and talk to other CM's or call someone on the phone and see what they can do. Their guest relations people are pretty good about working with people, so I suggest talk to other people.

On the Disney website I found: "If you purchased Memory Maker at the advance purchase price, photos taken within 3 days of the date of purchase will not be included in Memory Maker and must be purchased separately."

This isn't including AP PhotoPass / Memory Maker that comes with it, however this is general information for guests who purchase Memory Maker. That being said, you can try to ask to get those photos as others have stated by email, or calling, however, it appears that even if you purchased Memory Maker alone as just a guest, not even an AP including it, you would have still had the same issue.

No, that is incorrect based on my personal experience.
When we bought our AP it "turned on" 365 days worth of photos, going back a full year from the current date, and kept a full year's worth of photos active at all times from that point forward.
It is still working that way as of this past Oct too, when my friend upgraded her ticket to an AP.

This happened to me as well. Became annual passholders and then all my pictures from our trip like 7 or 8 months prior became available to view again. You should contact support, they helped me find missing photos from our trip in September.

Thank you all for the answers! I contacted Photopass support and have all of my pictures available without the watermark from the date of the start of our annual pass!

Were the photos from a full year back ones you had a Memory Maker for in the past? I think there is a distinction. Let's say you visit from August 1st to August 10th of 2018, and you have Memory Maker, the photos expire as normal, then in June of 2019 you purchase an AP. You will then be able to see the photos from August of 2018. However, if you did not have a Memory Maker in August of 2018, I am not certain that those photos would then reappear when you buy the AP in June of 2019. I have seen some posts that suggest photos may not reappear in that situation.

Mine were I guess. I had a share but not under MY MDE account, it was under another one. My friend who got her AP in October has never bought MM before and she can see an entire years worth of her photos

This is what happened with us. We took a trip in December of 2017, one person in our group bought photopass. The pictures expired on my account and then when we bought our annual passes in December of 2018, the trip pictures from Dec '17 showed up again and were available to download until January of '19.

When we bought our AP last summer, all of my photos from the previous summer showed up, but I had a Memory Maker the previous summer. I recently had someone in the Photopass / Memory Maker thread that did NOT get their photos from the full previous year, which is what made me think that it had to do with whether the photos were originally part of a Memory Maker or not.
