Photopass CD prepurchase

There have been some threads in the past (quite a few actually) about pre-purchasing the Photopass CD, and whether we are supposed to / allowed to do so without having received the email offer from Disney, and about the code expiring after 30 days, etc. etc. so I just wanted to share my experience with you all in hopes that it might help someone.

Back in early June, it was reported here that the price for the Photo CD would be increasing shortly, and anyone who was going to purchase should do so to avoid paying the higher price. After reading all the debates here about the prepurchase, and knowing that our vacation wasn't starting until August 22nd, more than two full months later, I was a bit concerned. However, I carefully read all the information on the pre-purchase web page, then went ahead and made my purchase on June 7th.

We went on vacation in August, as planned, and returned home on September 6th. On September 7th I entered my Photopass cards, and retrieved my pictures, then over the course of the next week or so, added borders and edited the pictures to my liking.

Today, September 17th, 102 days AFTER I prepurchased the Photo CD, I entered my order for the CD, and used my promotion code. There was no message telling me that the code had expired. I didn't have to contact Disney Photopass to get them to reinstate the code. I entered the code, the adjustment was made to my order price, I paid the $7.00 shipping and handling, and my order confirmation came via email. Simple, quick, no bologna.

I'm not certain why others have reported having problems using their codes, but I used mine more than three months after it was issued, and I expect that others can safely do the same.

how much is it now to pre order vs doing after your trip....

I guess i am more worried there wont be a lot of pics taking of us..

can you really ask them to take more then one photo at a time? i guess this is like the only real thing i find troublesome about the trip... i take my own camera and just take pics my self... but i would really really like to to have some of all of us. but to by the cd i would like to have a TON on there...

also do they really take pics at the water park too? all year round?

I know the first time i went we had like 125 pics on there then once you add borders and crop them you end up with alot more. I think when all done I had over 200 pics of great quality but we didnt have to preorder. I just ordered after our trip the cd through Disney so I am confused about this preordering and need the website on where to do it at.

You save $50 by pre-ordering. ($99.95 versus $149.95) You can pre-order ever during or after your trip, as long as you have not linked any photopass cards to your online account yet.

It is my understanding that you can also request a full refund if you don't like the pictures, as long as you have not already requested the CD. In other words, you can look at them online and if you don't like them, you get your money back. We were there 8 days, and after adding some borders, I have just over 600 pictures. I'm requesting my CD tonight.

Does anyone know about the photopass card I recieved with my trip documents. It has my name on the back. It says to register the card before my trip. I was going to pre order photopass so I don't want to register the card until I do that. Does anyone know if it matters ?

The photopass people say that only those who receive special emails can pre-order, but the link remains public...

A month or so ago there was a code (now expired) on top of the pre-order savings, but in my time on the Dis that's the only code I've seen...

I have been trying to order my CD for a few days now..and I can't get it to accept my CCV code on my card.I called and they told me to email CS and let them know.It is a 'glitch' in the system.So I did and still nothing from them..BLAH
Has anyone ever gotten an extension on the photopass?
Because I still want to do borders and such on them but haven't had time.

I didn't get an email. I actually heard about the discount on this board, but i also did a google search to find the website. I didn't have to put in any special code to pre-purchase. After I bought the pre-purchase, I was emailed a code to allow me to get the actual cd for free. I will use that tonight.... it better work.

I don't know if you can get the time extended or not... do you have another card you could try to see if it would take the ccv code on it?

I typically found the took 2 pictures of each pose just in case someone closed eyes or something. I asked the photographer to take special pictures lots of times. Sometimes just 1 kid, sometimes both, sometimes all of us, or doing different things. they've got nothing better to do, so they will take whatever you like.

The only time they told me no was when I wanted one to take a picture of my family with the Mayor and fireman on Mainstreet in MK. they said they could take pictures of us with landmarks but not with people. didn't quite understand that since they do characters all day, but didn't argue. The photographer was more than willing to take one with our camera though.

You can always pre-pay to save the $50 then if you don't think it is still worth the $99.95, you can always get a refund... just don't request the CD and then ask for a refund.

I pre-ordered my CD about two weeks ago and I have not received an email with a code either. The $99.95 was charged to my credit card...do I have to contact PhotoPass to get the code so I can complete my order now that I have my pictures attached to my account?

Our family of 4 is going with another family of 5 & we both want our own PHOTOPASS cards but would like to split the cost of $99 between the both of us. Can we put both photopass cards onto one CD?? YES!!!

We had 2 Photopass cards last year (regular one and MNSSHP one) and 4 this year (2 regular ones - one for DH and one for me, Water Parks one and MNSSHP one) and no problems.

I am almost done this years, but for 10 days we had over 400 photos. Now that I have added borders it is over 600!! We got tons of magic shots too!!!

I dont know about an 'extension' per say but I had read on here that you could order after your trip as long as you hadn't entered your photopass numbers. Based on really poor photopass reviews on here we were so on the fence about ordering that I decided to gamble and wait and see. We arrived on Wed and by Thur we had already seen enough photogs to make us happy and decided to order. I ordered Friday afternoon from our room (we always travel w/ laptop and internet connection). DSIL and family arrived on Saturday and picked up another photopass card. When we got home I uploaded our pics, got SIL card # and uploaded hers. I didn't have any problem at all ordering my CD, I finished up yesterday and ordered. With over 400 photos by the time we edited borders and such I feel we got our money's worth out of the preorder.
