Are there currently photopass photographers at the Tinkerbell and princess locations? I didn't see them there when I went in February.

Nope, not as of last week. They took Photopass away from these spots to have more “roaming” photographers wandering the parks.

I’ve posted my annoyance about this several times here on the boards. I’ve emailed guest services twice. Do not like.

Bummer! I was hoping they would return.

Just to clarify, they don't have photopass photographers at the Royal Hall for the princess meet and greets either?

They have not had photographers recently; as mentioned, they generally took them out of indoor meet and greets to have more roaming the parks. You may get lucky, but I wouldn’t plan to have photographers.

Has there been mention of where those photographers have been reassigned to? I'd like to see some examples of the new photo ops giving up character Photopass provides. Surely it has to be more than just the regular spots?

Honestly, it would be really interesting to see the reaction inside Royal Hall and Animation Academy to this news, especially if the wait as very long.

They’re just more frequently outside - not so much “new” places as all the places at once. At DL, there’s usually one on Main Street outside the Cinema/Emporium area now, and then sometimes one further up Main Street in addition to the ones at the Partners statue and the Castle. At DCA the other day, I noted one at the fountain, one in front of the Animation building, one by the fake cloud backdrop, and then another one over by Guardians. In the past, probably only one or maybe two of them would have been out at a time.

It’s worth noting that at DCA, NONE of those four photographers were actually taking pictures of anyone...

My friend who works there said people didn’t download the as high of a proportion of inside meet and greet photos. So, say, for every 10, only 1 got downloaded or whatever. But they download a much higher proportion of these types of shots. Also, people buying MaxPass were complaining that they “didn’t see photographers.” Hence the change. I have all sorts of issues with this “proportion” logic as well as the relocation of photographers rather than the addition of photographers... but I am not in charge of Photopass placement, sooooo... oh well.

Well, that's a bummer! But, thanks for all the info!

I have heard rumors that the reason for the PP changes and for not putting more photographers out generally is to discourage guests from purchasing MP only for PP. This makes sense, even if this seems like a lame way to go about it. So it wouldn't surprise me if we see the PP benefit disappear from MP in the future -- but I hope that would mean the return of the PP photographers in the bargain.

We were just there at the end of last week and definitely no PP photographers with Tinkerbell or at the Royal Hall for princess meet and greets.

We did get PP photographs as we entered DL park near the mickey shape on the grass, in front of sleeping beauty's castle, in front of the Matterhorn, and surprisingly had a PP where we met Daisy Duck at DCA. That was a really nice surprise as we got some really cute pictures with Daisy Duck.

I really liked maxpass and having photopass along with it was nice, but the lack of PP photographers with the characters was a real bummer as we only got a few entire group photos with the characters.

Sounds ridiculous enough to be believable.

My biggest issue with it is also that I won't be in any of the character photos. I guess I could ask someone behind us to take the shot, but most people don't know to use a camera where you have to look through an optical view finder any more! Even if it's set and they just have to push one button.

If that's the case, just remove PP from MP.

I wouldn't be shocked to see that happen once more people start buying it (you know, like when SWL opens).

For now I think it's the bait to get more people hooked on it.

What’s weird is that CMs continue to tell people that MaxPass is FOR Photopass. I just heard this discussion at the info booth by the hub last week (and not for the first time), the CM there (who’s a plaid), telling a guest that the point of MaxPass is to get Photopass, and that being able to book FPs on your phone is just a “bonus.” Usually the info booth CMs are pretty well-informed.

They also definitely are putting them where they’re more “visible” to guests since they’re all just standing around (yesterday a photographer was doing some fun pictures with a large group at the front of the Hollywood Studios sign, and people started lining up). I don’t doubt that they could separate out photo and FP benefits in the future, but I’m not sure that explains the lack of character Photopass photographers currently.

The most logical explanation is usually the right one. And that explanation would be that Disney is being cheap.

That's what I thought. They said that Max Pass is Photopass with FP inclulded, rather than the other way around. They should be having more Photopass photographers not less. This is a bummer.
