Hi

Having been reading these boards for the last couple of months now, i have noticed many brides don't use Disney Photography but use other companies. Now, is this just down to the amount Disney charge or are they just not that good? Anyone had great experience with Disney Photography? Seem to hear mixed reviews and am unsure about which we will use.

I used an outside photographer, but mainly because I wanted a very specific style. I think it's the same way with other people as well. You don't get to choose which Disney photographer you get (correct if I'm wrong on that), so it is a bit of luck of the draw- which is why you get a mix of good and bad reviews. I think most are good, they just may not "fit" with what the bride wants. You also can't use an outside photographer if you have an event inside of a park, so it's not always an option either. And using Disney means it counts towards minimum.

You may want to do som searching and review some of the many MK Photo shoots that have been posted here to get a feel for the Disney Photogs.

Also, just a note, I think price is something the drives a lot of people away from Disney...not neccesarily the quality or capabilities of the photogs.

I'm going to agree with ColeV.
I think the majority of Dis Brides use outside photography because of a preference in style and the fact that there have been so many mixed reviews about DPS.
With something as important as Wedding Photography,we can't afford for it to be Hit or Miss, we all want to be 100% sure we are getting what and who we want and that the end result will be exactly what we imagined.

We used DPS because we couldn't afford an outside photographer, that and we wanted to do the EPCOT portrait session and you have to use DPS for that. I had heard the hit and miss stories about DPS but after seeing a couple of friend's pictures who had used them (specifically Amy) we gave them a shot. We requested Amy, and while they can't promise you'll get the photographer you want they'll certainly try to accomadate your request. We LOVED Amy and are over the moon about how our pictures turned out. I think after the past few years of having unhappy brides they're trying to turn the reputation of DPS around.

I decided to contract outside photographers for my ceremony and reception mainly because I had a very specific style in mind when it came to my photos, also I wanted to know 100% sure who was going to show up to do the shoot the day of, and I wanted to get to know my photographers before the wedding day, I think it helps create more genuine photographs. But that is just a very personal choice.

I will be contracting DPS for a MK photo shoot and an AK photo shoot as well though.
