There are lots of great photography podcasts.. I also listen to TWIP and really enjoy it but it is not for a beginner..
What there are not any of that I have found are good teaching podcasts for a beginner which it sounds like you are looking for. There are a few teaching styles but they dont really start at the beginning and progress.
I would suggest you head over to the message boards at the Digital Photography School. This is a great teaching site. Also, Kelby Training has some great learning videos. Lastly, check out Flickr for a photo group near where you live. You can often find meet-ups ans such through these and I found that my local Flickr group participants were more than willing to teach me along the way.
I also have heard that Canon and Nikon have teaching videos on their site, although I am not 100% about that as I shot Olympus (they do have videos BTW).
Lastly order Understanding Exposure and Understanding Shutter Speed by Bryan Peterson.. These are wonderful learning tools and highly recommended on most photo boards..
