I am an amateur photographer that likes to eat. So I will be posting some of the restaurants that we visited. Me, DW, DD14, DD8. We had lunch at Restaurant Marrakesh. This was part of my "expose the family to as many different ethic foods as possible while at Epcot". We have had selected items that could be classified as Moroccan food but never a full meal. The restaurant was somewhat dark with very colorful lighting. This is good for ambiance but a nightmare for photography. Trying to capture the essence of the restaurant without blasting everything with a flash was challenging. We were seated next to the stage once again. Being on the DxDP we ordered appetizers.
Our hostess recommended the Seafood Bastilla - (baked layers of thin pastry stuffed with grouper, shrimp, mushrooms, vermicelli, onions and egg) because I mentioned that I liked spicy food. It was very different but good.

My DW opted for the Moroccan Salad (Green pepper, tomato, marinated olives, carrots, potatoes and cucumber salad)

DD14 choose the Beef Brewat Rolls - layers of thin pastry stuffed with seasoned minced beef, fried and sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. She had never had anything like this and liked it a lot.

I also ordered a Moroccan Mint Tea

Main Courses

Chicken Kebabs - grilled brochettes of chicken breast marinated in Moroccan herbs and spices

Roast Lamb Meshoui - a Moroccan tradition - roasted lamb in natural juices. My DW really liked this compared to an Oso Boco.

DD14 went with the Shish Kebab - grilled tenderloin of beef marinated in Moroccan herbs and spices which right up her ally being a carnivore.

Desserts:

Bastilla - crispy leaves of pastry topped with vanilla cream and sprinkled with toasted almonds. This is not your ordinary dessert while at WDW. The pastry was very flaky and almost had a honey taste to it. Good but not overly sweet.

Marrakesh Delight - fresh fruit salad topped with mint ice cream, toasted almonds and orange blossom water. DW ordered this because of her love of orange flavored desserts. Again not your typical dessert.

DD14 ordered Moroccan Symphony - Assorted pastries

Between our meal and dessert the floor show began. This included two gentleman playing instruments and of course the belly dancer.

Loved this report on Restaurant Marrakesh!! DH and I are taking the family here in December and now I can't wait :thumbsup2

You're pictures are wonderful!! Please post more photos. I love seeing them :)

I have been keeping up with your posts. This one is really wanting me to try this place for some reason. I think it is because Marrakesh seems to get bad reviews. I don't know if it is your photography or everyone is wrong but the food looks wonderful. :thumbsup2

I too am following all your reviews and now am regretting not pushing for Marrakesh as an ADR . It really looks like an experience. Hmmm wonder what i can change?

I'm really looking forward to going to Restaurant Marrakesh next year now! Beautiful photos!:thumbsup2

going here for our 1st time in september...loved the review...dh picked this restaurant and i was quite skeptical...but it looks real good...loved your pictures...they were awesome...

Looks good and definitely matches my memory of when we last dined there in '07. One thought... Have they changed the lights to make it that red in there, or did the WB on your camera get confused? I remembered a different color palette....

I see a stop at the Morocco CS when I'm there in a few weeks....

Thanks for the pics and review. This was my wife's first choice of locations to eat at for our visit later this month.

Food looks yummy! I really want to try here!

Hi Roger! :wave2:

Lovely pics from your meal in Morrocco. I'm still trying to nail down what restaurant we will do on our World Showcase day. Right now, we have Le Cellier and San Angel Inn---but your shots make me want to reconsider. :goodvibes

Looking forward to the rest of your reviews!

Ann

ETA: I just realized how old these reviews are---how did I miss these?! From now on if you are going to be sharing such wonderful photos, I think you should be obligated to post a separate thread on the Photo Board to tell us all where to look ;)

Thanks Ann.
I have seen a few people post food pictures on the Photo Board with some comments to the effect "You know there is a Food section of the Boards" :rotfl2: so did not want offend anyone. I know that we have a food contest coming up and will have to pick one. I enjoy trying to capture food pictures especially at WDW since that is one of the reasons we go. I hope that you get a chance to look at all of the other ones.
