As many times as I have been in WOD at DTD, and stood directly in front of the display that Genie was above... I NEVER saw it before. I am always taking pictures of the displays.... so I can't believe I missed it... I can't hardly believe it is new? How cool that he has a camera!

I think this is something of an inside joke at WDW.

Robin Williams, as everybody knows, provided the voice of the Genie.

But Robin Williams also stars in the wonderful film, with Walter Cronkite, that plays during the Animation Tour in MGM. And in that film, Robin is wearing a loud Hawiian shirt and carrying an old Brownie camera with a look-down viewfinder, which he uses to snap a pic of Walter. The match-up is not exact, but it's close

Of course, in the final scene of Aladdin, the Genie is also shown wearing the same loud Hawaiian shirt and carrying the same camera that he is in the statue at Downtown Disney.

But no matter what the inspiration for the statue, it's cool and makes a great mascot for this board.

Phenomenal, cosmic power!

Itty-bitty living space...

Perhaps someone could crop it down, cut out just the genie and lamp, and shrink it for use in our signatures? Maybe add some wording?

Thanks for the history Will! It just amazed me that I KNOW it had to have been there and I never noticed it before...taking pictures in the stores in DTD is one of the things I enjoy about going there! I guess I was distracted in the past by the merchandise!

Ist that film still in the Animation Tour? I have seen one with Mushu.

I will have to watch Aladdin - it's been awhile!

Hey makinorlando I got the same picture, DS pointed him out or I would have missed him. Nice shot btw.

I guess it's good that I miss things from time to time, that way there is always something new for me to see!!!

There were some attractions in the parks that we had not done until recently - Tom Sawyer Island, One Man's Dream & the Animation Studio to name a few... I think we've pretty much done them all now!

It's been several years since I last went on the animation tour, so I don't know if the film with Robin and Walter is still there.

I have not seen one with Mushu, so perhaps it replaced Robin. But if that's so, I would be sad - Robin's animated adventures in Neverland were some of the greatest stuff in MGM.

Thanks. We saw Mush in May... I would love to see that! I love Robin Wms - in fact had to rent the corny Mork and Mindy DVD so DD could see him in his early years. She knows his voice, but not so much him as an actor! Na noo Na Noo!

O.K.- so for those of us that are computer stupid - how do we take the cropped genie and use him!! He's totally cool and I would love to use him in my signature on a scrapbook board - is that allowed? TIA

Marge, here's how I did it:

Right-click on the Genie picture and select "Save picture as" and save it somewhere on your computer where you can find it. Then you need to copy and save the picture somewhere on the internet, like Photobucket.com. Once you have it in Photobucket, copy the

Well, will wonders never cease!! And he pops up in all my old post too!!! I'm so entertained by the smallest things!! :rotfl: Thanks Amy for the walk-thru and also to bazzanoid for creating him!!

Thanks, Bazzanoid! :thumbsup2 One of these days I hope to find time to learn how to do fun stuff like that.

Did you get that on your recent trip? I keep thinking that I will look for it and then when I get there I forget.... I left Tara's trading pins (about 20 that she took to the park) on the monorail last Saturday, and they have never been turned in - so we have been trying to find some to replace them. I've spent FAR TOO much money on EBAY this week - but I felt so bad about my "air headness!"

Look he has toes in his socks - or is that how Mickey's toes really look --- I've never seen Mickey in opened toed shoes before!!!

Ya know, I don't trade or collect pins, but I'd love to have that one for my camera strap.

Martha, if you happen to find one of those, would you be willing to pick one up for me? I can send you a money order or Disney Dollars to reimburse you.

I did get it on the last trip back in June. It was the free trading pin that you get if you stay at a Disney Resort. I was always on the lookout for a Mickey Mouse or Goofy (or any character for that matter) with a camera pin. I was sooo PSYCHED when this pin was handed to me and it didn't even cost anything!!

I played around a bit more with the mascot thing:
How does this work? I couldn't get the size smaller. At least not in the last few minutes. I'm sure I could if I spent a little more time with it, but its getting late. Need to get some rest before DS #2 wakes up for his early morning feeding.
