Photobucket users beware

I have had several of my Disney frames removed from my photobucket album WITHOUT notice. I e-mailed them because I wanted to know exactly what was violated in their terms of service. This is the first reply I received from them and my jaw dropped:

Photobucket.com attempts to maintain a website that is absent of offensive,
indecent or objectionable content. That is our general policy and your images
were removed in accordance with that policy. The Photobucket.com Terms of
Service, found at http://www.photobucket.com/terms.php, reflect that policy by
giving Photobucket the right to remove content that, among other things, (a)
it deems unlawful, obscene, harmful, threatening, defamatory, or hateful; (b)
invades the privacy of any third party; (c) contains nudity, illustrated
nudity, pornography, illustrated pornography, child erotica, or child
pornography; or (d) Photobucket deems otherwise objectionable. The Terms of
Service apply to all accounts whether Free or Pro or Public or Private.

There was nothing offensive in my album. just a bunch of photoframes I had created using disney clipart or wallpaper. I was completely taken back that they considered this offensive so I e-mailed them again and this was their reply. Remember I was given no notice of removal which it does state is their right to do.

The copyright owner, DISNEY, has requested that all copyrighted images of
Mickey, Minnie, Tigger and Winnie the Pooh images be removed from
Photobucket.com. According to DMCA regulations, we must remove these
images because they are owned by this company. Your not being held liable
and they are not seeking any legal action except the removal of the
images. We have already removed these images for you. No further action
need be taken by you.

Just wanted to give all of the disigners here on DISboards a warning that it may happen to you too. Before I received their second reply, I uploaded about half the frames they deleted & they are still there.

They didn't mention all of the characters which i find strange & they only deleted som of my frames & left others

Hmmm.... I have Disney images in designs loaded in 2 separate photobucket accounts that - at this point - have none removed. Thanks for the heads up!

Could you use a diferent online place? I don't know of any, but I am sure photobucket is not the only one online.

Maybe Disney is just on a kick right now and will calm down soon. I bet it's like a rollercoster ride... sometimes up and then it's down.

i just posted a site on the photo enhancement thread. there is another site that does give HTML codes to post pics & 2 people have tested it on that thread. the site is:

picturetrail.com

You do have to sign up for a free account, but you had to do that with photobucket as well.

Wow I just logged into my photobucket account and have of my images have been removed! Thanks for the headsup. I can't actually remember what half of them were but there are a lot of my new animated signatures that have been removed

I had mentioned on the photo enhancements thread maybe being reported by someone on the DIS. My albums were fine until I started posting on the community board. Unless because I was posting on the community board my link may have had a lot of hits which raised a red flag.

I re-uploaded half of the ones that were removed & removed my link & my album so far is OK.

I don't see where they give you an IMG tag. I made one of teh photo cubes and it gave a tag, but not the one the DIS uses. Am I missing it?

if you made an album, you need to click on the album & then find the picture you want the code for, it is at the top

One more reason to love Pix8.net. I am so sorry this is happening to you guys. I can only assume that you have the images saved somewhere off the internet. Maggie

miboards.com has user galleries. It's free, that might work. I also think they're a "DIS-friendly" board.

I've removed my design link, too . . . this is so sad Nothing's missing from my page,yet, but it feels like just a matter of time for the rest of us. Did I mention this is so sad?

I had my animated Mickey but I took it down when I swapped usernames. I do have a link to my autograph pages though and some of those have been taken down.

ETA: I've just opened a Flickr account for my holiday pics - I can get the BB code from there too - does anyone know what their view is on Disney images?

I don't think it is Photobucket but Disney that has made the decision and photobucket has to follow their wishes -

they probably started with photobucket b/c it is so big and will start going after the other accounts soon

I don't get why disney cares if the images are in there - they aren't being sold - although photobucket has started allowing people to make shirts and stuff - so maybe they are concerned about that

Did you make an album? if so, go to the album you created & click on pics. You will see the thumbnails on one side & a bigger picture on the other. Click on whatever pic you want the code for & right above it you will see 5 links as follows:

Click the link that says image URLS and use Forums (IMG) tag
