I completely agree. Nice HDR shot Havoc!

Thank you. I've tried to tone down my HDR..
But truthfully, I'm wondering if I even need HDR anymore.
The a99 has such tremendous dynamic range, that it seems I can get similar (or better) results by just editing a good low ISO, underexposed RAW. I'll post side by side tomorrow perhaps... HDR vs simple lightroom adjusted raw, for feedback.

Did a series of around the house high ISO tests with my A6000 - they're uploaded large, and I saved them over on another forum's gallery. Don't think anyone wants me to direct post a 4,900x pixel long photo, so here's the link to the page - original will show the large version:
http://www.dpreview.com/galleries/3702150612/photos/2911985/a6000-mfnr-iso-25-600

That's an ISO 25,600 JPG right from the camera, using MFNR. The first 8 photos in that gallery are all large posts of high ISO from the A6000 - including ISO6400, 12800, and 25, 600, done with and without MFNR.

Not too bad for APS-C!

Can't see much difference in resolution vs. the NEX-7 but your shots seem to handle high ISO noise better. I don't know if you put a wide angle lens on the A6000 yet, but I would be interested in seeing the results. My NEX-7 with the Rokinon 8mm and the E 16mm result in purple corner vignetting.

A6000 looks like a great camera, especially considering the price.

Justin, as usual, I love looking through your photos!

Animagic, congrats on the A99!

Havoc, I took a few shots with my SIL's new a7 this evening. She only had the kit lens so I was comparing it to my X-T1. The photos look great but it's sooooooo slow in use compared to the Fuji. Startup seems to take forever and focusing is definitely not as quick and positive as the XT1.

We picked up our new Boxer today and they came to see her. This is my youngest DD laying with her. My girls named her Rosie and she is a pepper!

This is ISO 10,000 RAW in LR5.4 with NR set to 10. Sony and Nikon have terrible chroma noise but luckily it's easily removed.

That shot is fantastic.

Has your SIL updated the firmware? Supposedly there is a firmware upgrade that speeds up the camera a bit. Don't know how much.

Personally, I find chroma noise well controlled until very high ISO. And as you said, easily remove.
Luminance noise is the bigger issue. And not surprisingly, the a7 looks slightly cleaner than the a99. Your shot looks like ISO 6400 on the a99. I need to remind myself that the difference between 6400 and 10,000 is only about a half stop. I can certainly get decent shots at 10,000-12,800 but I can't really get high detail shots at those ISOs.

She just got the camera and I don't think it's updated. I was surprised how much detail there was @ 10k ISO. I wish there were some lower priced primes.

There are always adapted primes. But then you may be sacrificing AF quality. Or introducing translucent mirror loss.

But that is one of the things holding me back from switching-- not only are there fewer and slower lenses, they are very expensive. No big catalog of used Minolta lenses with native compatibility. My 28 year old 200 prime is the most incredibly sharp lens I have ever seen. Still wasn't cheap, but cheaper than new FE lenses.

The new A77II looks pretty sweet!

I was in Vegas last year and saw this parked in front of a restaurant (actually in Henderson NV).
