guess i'll have to get another nd filter to use with my nd filter if i want to get to 4 sec. :rotfl:
Jann do you have a Polarizering filter, try that it may get you some what of a slower shutter speed, I read somewhere that someone stacked the ND with a Polarizering filter to get a slower speed, can't remember where I read it though. The polarizer will generally be equivalent to two stops and what ever your ND filter is.

I was just playing with the umbrella & stand I got for Christmas and took these. The poor pets are always subjected to my experiments. If we have kids one day, I pity them. :rotfl:

all the gulls were sitting on the warmer pavement till a car drove up and made them move. i've been working on my b&w since i got a new book on digital conversions. they mention a number of ways they feel are "better" than the older digital conversions( ie desat) this way is the first i tried... grayscale in ( lightroom) then adjusting with the grayscale sliders.
f14, 1/400 iso 100 50mm lens .
it mentions some other stuff i never thought of like not having highly exposed area by the edges so they don't look like the paper showing through, so it they are use some edge darkening .

Thanks! Actually she has an underbite, so her teeth show more often than not. She was fine with the photography session yesterday though. I just let her hang on the couch and I snapped away. Now the cat, I had to keep making noises to get him to look at me.

I really like your shot too!

i don't think i can use both as my nd filter is a cokin...it uses a step up ring to attach so i don't think i can but i'll have to check to make sure..but the cokin filters are fairly inexpensive so i can get another and use up to 3 on the filter holder.

through the sunroof, i wanted to take some things from a different perspective, this was one. i liked the contrast of colors and the ornately carved stonework

bumping up the thread with a shot from a couple yrs ago. i realized yesterday i could never be a say national geographic photog( i mean other than for the more obvious reason:rotfl: ) when a hawk caught a bird in mid air and landed with it right by my front door, i opened the door not to take a photo of the struggle, but to scream at the hawk ( didn't do any good, it just took off with the bird in it's talons ) and envisioned myself on the plains of Africa screaming "drop that gazelle" at a lioness:rolleyes1 ;)
so my form of nature photography:

I can't post any yet because I don't have the camera with me, but I bought a new Canon Rebel XS yesterday...was thrilled to bits to find out that the Speedlite flash and 70-300mm zoom lens (as well as another lens, but I can't remember the specs) that I used with my Rebel 2000 were compatible. YAY tax refund time! I'm going to try to get out and do some shooting tomorrow (downtown, while at work) and over the weekend (out at the lake) and see how I like it.

Brand new to DSLR, matter of fact to SLR in general and brand new XSi I just received from UPS today. Below pics are with the kit lens and on full auto, no post processing.

Now it's time to read the rest of the manual and learn how to properly use this camera. Don't worry I have some non kit lenses on order. Hopefully they arrive soon so I can practice with the lenses I will use most of the time.

probably can't really tell much from this size but i used a program that added a paper texture that i liked. sometimes the textures are too much but this one is fairly subtle

I took this today at Creve Coeur Lake with the kit (XS) lens; I also have a few lenses that I used with my 35mm Rebel 2000 that have worked quite nicely (80-210mm and a 35-80mm that may have been the kit lens with the 2000...I can't remember).

And this one was last night, just messin' around.

Now I just need to read the manual and learn how to actually use the thing (haven't even gotten live view yet, and it's WEIRD going back to using a viewfinder after several years!)
