Photo printing

Well we got back yesterday from our fantastic (almost 3 week) first hol to Disney and have just got round to looking through all our pics. Oh the memories
Bought a few p/albums out there and think there is probably about 1000 pics we will want to get printed so just wondered if anyone has any tips on the best value way of doing this or can recommend anywhere?

Printing pics is not something we do anymore, we have over 30,000 on hard drive and everyone we know has a PC so we just give discs out or throw them on a memory stick, I would rather look at pics on my PC or large TV screen than a small print.
I did print 3 off from last August, those were the first for about 5-6 years.

Good luck getting a fair price on 1,000 prints.

Do you have winkflash in the UK? If so, you might consider it. I know in the US, it's 5-6 cents per print (1000 prints would still be pricey).

Or, you could make it into a book and they have flat rate prices too (in the US).

Just Googled and yes we do have them here but 9p per print, that converts to almost 15 cents/print(everythings double the price here, thats why we come to the US so much) I am sure there will be a deal somewhere but its not something I have looked at myself.

WOW! I know, in the US, we sometimes get these flat rate deals where we pay one rate for a book and get 100 (or more) pages. So, if they have that, and you like to make a book about your trip (basically that would mean you'd have to organize), it might be worth it?

I know the feeling - after my summer working in WDW last year, I had tonnes of photos I wanted to print to make various albums and scrapbooks lol! How on earth are you supposed to choose just a few photos, I have no idea!

For a couple of years I have used photobox. The quality is fantastic, good range of sizes too and they do lots of nice photo gifts. Once you sign up, they send you lots and lots of offers, so maybe it's worth signing up first and then waiting a couple of weeks to see what discounts they send you?

Another company I have used is Snapfish - again, they send tonnes of offers out I used them last summer because they had some sort of 50 prints free offer, where you just had to pay for postage.

So those are the two I'd recommend!

I use photobox too.

I use private sales sites for deals (sorry wouldn't know for the UK, I use french sites and our deals are not avalaible on the other side of the Channel)

Last year I got a deal for packages of 300 prints + shipping for 60% off (with photobox)
I used them while in WDW, uplodaded loads of pics (I shot roughly 10.000 in 15 days) and ordered a bunch of them (1200 IIRC). They were sitting in our mail box when we came home

All in all, it must have cost .06€ (5p) per print (including processing, shipping & handling)

right now, mypix.com (pixmania) has a deal ( http://www.mypix.com/photo-pack/ukuk_pfe.html )

buy one get one free packs : 2400 4" x 6" photos for £84 (plus shipping) that's £0.035 per print. These are premium prints, good quality paper and speedy processing (they come cheaper than economy)

or 1200 prints for £50.40 (plus postage)

We use Bonusprint - they quite often have offers like 1/3 off or 200 prints for £10.

I have albums I have bought for the last 2 years still unfilled as I never get round to printing them So I now buy the Disney Photobooks - while they are not the cheapest they are good quality and I know it is they only way I am going to do it as I have a time limit and I do while edit my Photopass pictures!

I've just used photobox for a recent DLP trip .. works out about 5p a print ..

was well worth it .. the pictures are ace

we tend to do dvd,s set to music(usually the ones in charts when were there or the ones they keep repeating on the radio over)there,easy to do (get the kids to make them)we still print out a few but cannot remember last time got them out.but got a dvd out over the weekend and stuck it on.

It's so hard not to print out all your photo's

I transfer all pics to my computer, then create a new folder and drag my favourites into that folder for printing. Then I leave it for a week and go through the new folder and delete a few more! Last trip I rounded up my favourite 800 pics and printed them off at Tesco for 5p per photo.

My very, very best ones went into our Disney photobook which I love and the rest are on a digital photo frame slideshow

Beth, I did just choose some photos to print - I did about 1200 from our last trip

I am also a fan of Photobox and Snapfish. For quality and service you cant fault them and if you are printing more than 500 photos, all the photo printing services give pretty much the same 5p per print deal. I used Jessops last year ... and had to re order them all from Photobox! I should know by now - just do it right the first time!

I still have not printed off any pics from my Disney wedding in 2008 or our last disney trip in 2010 so a few 100 pics to do lol we have printed of a couple for the wall but must sort out the rest,so on to Snapfish or Photobox for me too!

I've found using these online places to print photos, that the quality of the paper is not near as good as the traditional Matte or Gloss paper in a Lab.

Are Boots expensive in UK? I know they're pretty pricey for photos here in Ireland, but most people will go to Harvey Norman and get a good deal in their labs.

asda also do 5p a print if you haven't got pc access - i'm also a fan of printing photos and putting them into albums, call me old fashioned. Last trip was 600 photos and i albumed and scrapbooked (added stickers and embelishments) 3 albums, it was fun as I bought all the scrapbook items, from orlando so it was great to get home and do that and lovely to look back on ....although I can hear the eves of the loft straining from all my albums now

Most of my photos i keep digitaly stored on the Mac but i do like to get an annual photo album in the US and fill it my "Best Off" photos , usually 100-200.

I find Boots on larger orders works out a good price per photo for 24 hour service and usually if i drop em off early i get them by closing on same day.

I like to fill the album with a combination of photos , receipts from purchases and little day by day trip reports. Makes for an interesting read a few years down the line

I love a mix of digital and printed pics. In my experience you can pretty much choose who to go through, Jessops.com, Tesco.com, Asda.com etc they all come out to 5p per print if you do enough (200+). Also, if you use Tesco Clubcard at all, Jessops have a rewards deal on where you can exchange clubcard vouchers for Jessops vouchers, £5 of tesco vouchers gives you £15 in Jessops. http://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/product.aspx?R=2543

i always use Lidl and get photobooks they look really nice and you can get lodas of photos in them. they work out cheaper than anywhere else i've looked at the price for printing photos is quite good as well, hope you can narrow down the amount of photos you want!!!
