Photo Pass Question

Hi
Can someone please explain photo pass to me? The way I understand it is that you give them your card and when they take the picture, that picture goes on the card and all of your pictures from your trip that they take in the parks, then you can order them when you get home. If this is right, how long do I have to order pictures? If this is not right, then please tell me how it works? Also, where do you get the photo pass from? And last but not least, does anyone know where to go to get the picture take where it looks like Tink is in your hand?
TIA

You got it right. You get the card from the first photopass photographer you run into and all your pics can go on that card. If you forget that card one day...don't worry, they'll give you a new one and all the cards can be combined onto your account when you get home. If you are planning to buy the pictures, prepurchase the CD before your trip. You have 30 days to view the pictures online (and send them to others to view) before they expire. The pics are expensive (12.95 plus tax and shipping) so I would definately buy the CD. You'll get the rights to all the pictures and can make as many copies as you like.

You can get Tink in your hands in front of the castle at MK. Some CMs won't do it...keep asking until you get one that will. At AK, you can get Simba in your hands.

Wow, where at in AK do you get Simba in your hands? Why won't some CMs dot it? That's strange!! If I don't plan on buying all of the pics, is the CD still worth purchasing? If you purchase the CD, how does that work, does everything still expire in 30 days w/the CD? Confused!!!:confused3

No, if you buy the CD...you own the pictures. You have the rights to them. So you can take the CD to Walmart (or wherever you do your pics) and print them out for $.29 as opposed to $12.95 at the park. I always find the CD worth it. If you are going to purchase at least 8 of your photos...it's worth it.

Here is what the Simba pic looks like...you can get him in front of the Tree of Life

I'm pretty sure that I saw the CD was $125, so I suggest taking lots and lots and lots of photopass pictures if you plan to go that route...but if you printed out 10 pics, it's worth it.

You can prepurchase a photoCD for $99.95 prior to your trip. Try googling to find the link.

I am an aspiring amateur photographer who has a camera setup equivalent to what the Photopass photogs use, so I have not found their pictures superior to what I can take. They are still very good quality in general, and I would probably strongly consider purchasing a handful of photographs that they took if it were not for the equipment I own already.

I have noticed though that out of a hundred or so pictures taken by the photopass photographers, I have had a hard time finding more than 5-10 pictures which are truly memorable pictures to keep. I have 2 young children who love to see the characters, so in my trips I have come home with about 200 or so pictures at times.

I do agree though, that if you are going to buy 8 pictures or more (including duplicates for family/friends), that you are better off buying the photoCD so that you own the pictures.

If you are traveling with friends/family or are in a small group, you can combine all of your photopass cards in the parks and get them all on one CD which would save you money in the long run if you are going to buy a photoCD. That way you can take the disc and print the duplicates out for yourself alot cheaper.

What I was mainly wanting the photo pass for was the Tink picture and the Simba picture now that I found out about that!! And, at least one family photo b/c it will be just myself, DH and DD. So the pictures we take will always be missing either DH or myself. So I thought I could get at least one off of photopass of our family and the Tink and Simba pictures. Probably not worth the CD then, huh? TIA

Anyone have a Tink pic I can see?

How do they do it? Just pose you right and they add the character in later?

It is a tough decsion b/c Disney is such a fun place and there are so many opportunities to get memorable photos of your daughter, family, etc. I know that in my situation, I would have a hard time limiting the amount of photos to purchase because I find it hard to throw away pictures taken of my children. If that doesn't totally pertain to you and you know that you would only purchase a handful of pictures, then the photoCD would not be good idea. Don't forget the process of making duplicates as well to give to family etc in your decision, because that can add up as well...

My sons are 2 and 4, so the last time I went it seems like all that I did was end up in lines waiting for characters. We ended up with alot of good Photopass pictures with the characters. If it wasn't for me taking pictures, I probably would have bought a good amount of Photopass pictures. The fact that I had comparable pictures on my own camera as good as the photopass one's, allowed me to not need to buy the photopass ones. I am kind of a photosnob, so if pictures taken with your camera are good enough and you would only use Photopass for special pictures, then I would just go with the individual pictures and no photoCD.

Really a tough decision isn't it :-)

Last year we got the Tink picture taken in front of the castle at Mk and also behind SSE at Epcot. We were just talking to the photopass guy and he offered to do it. You can sometimes get a picture with Stitch at HS, but again some photographers say no.

To clear your confusion a little, the pictures are not ON the card. The card just contains a tracking number. The pictures are sent, wirelessly I think, to Disney and they manage the images and the print outs. If you buy the CD, they just burn all the pictures off their computers to the CD and send it to you to do with it as you want.

My dd was sp excited when she saw the tinkerbell in her hands in the photo! She was like 4.5 at the time and was just so blown away! I am hoping we can get another one when we go in 2 weeks.

Hi!

You will love Disney's Photopass service. It is lots of fun to go to their site and add their special borders and special graphics that are available for you to put on your pictures. You'll need to set up your Photopass account within 30 days. Once you register your account place your order within the next 30 days. Photographers in the Magic Kingdom should be able to help you have Tinkerbell pop in for a visit on your childrens' hands. Tinkerbell has appeared on my kids' hands in several places around MK. You can pre-order their photo CD for a discount before you go, if you wish. I recently received a 40% discount "coupon" at the Pirates and Princess party that was good for a discount on prints ordered. A couple of tips... if you attend a P&P party and they are still offering this discount... when you go to their website to add the Promotion code from the back of your P&P Photopass card... enter only the letters and numbers of the code. The code is printed on the card with dashes but the Promotion Code field doesn't seem accept the dashes... The code is more of a guideline :rotfl: If you put the dashes in you will get an error saying something like your Promotion Code is either expired or is invalid. There are lots of other special things that you can add to your pictures when you return home on their website. As you browse your pictures the assortment of available graphics will change as your location changes as the parks and special events each have some exclusive additional graphics. My favorite graphic to add tends to be the Pixie Dusted Text...Where Dreams Come True WDW... and Tinkerbelle flying up from the bottom ready to spread more Pixie Dust. Although when I add this graphic I first save a copy at the picture size I want to order...to be sure the sizing of the graphic and the photo all work together correctly.

For more details there is a great website that really details Photopass (among other things) that you can find http://www.stitchkingdom.com
I'm sure you will get some great family pictures from the Photopass photographers... still be sure to take lots of pictures on your own, expecially ones of your kids' faces as they explore WDW! Have fun!
