For those of you who don't know (for those of you who do, please bear with me :goodvibes)...when you're in the Disney parks, they have Photo Pass photographers that will take your pics at various locations around the parks and wherever there are characters.

We did this on our honeymoon (as we didn't have anyone else to take our photo!) and accumulated quite a few pics!

Unfortunately, the price for the Photo Pass CD when you come back from a trip is $129.95! We paid it, because of the number of great photos we had, but it's steep.

They've always had a pre-order policy, where you can purchase the CD at 20% and get a code you fulfill later.

Anyway, on thedisneyworldblog.com, I found out the price goes up to $149.95 on June 16th! But you can still preorder at the 20% off of $129.95...or $99.95 (which is actually more than 20%, but whatever...that's what they advertise on the site!)

Additionally, I found a code if you are using a Disney Rewards Visa (9visard15) which gives you 15% off!

So, instead of $149.95 after my next trip, I just paid $84.96!

For those of you who know you want to use Photo Pass, this is a good deal. If you're not sure...there is a refund policy which you can request within two weeks of the vacation.

Also, just wanted to point out that most Photo Pass photographers will also take a pic with your camera too at the character stations! So, if that's what you're after, you probably don't need to buy the CD.

I hope that helps some of you!

Great news, thanks for the tip!

Remember you can SHARE these with your family/friends too! So, at the end of your trip, collect everyones photo pass cards. When you go to the site to register, enter in EVERYONE'S codes and you can get one disc with EVERYONE'S photos for the lower price! You cannot do this after someone has already used the codes and viewed the photos!

THAT'S an awesome tip for large groups! Because you can also order add'l CDs for $19.95!

The only thing Im worried about this is there was sometihng about it expiring? I could have swore I read that on the other boards. you couldnt order too far in advance...

Great advice!

When are you headed back to WDW??

We'll be there for the 1/2 marathon in January!

I've read that on other boards, too, BUT, my email with the code doesn't say ANYTHING about it expiring...and I checked the website and couldn't find it either. They'd have to put that disclaimer somewhere! I guess I'll find out!

Although it doesn't mention it ANYWHERE I believe the code does expire at a certain point (I want to say 60 days), but because they don't tell you that, if you email them if it has expired, they'll send you a replacement code free of charge.

So is the pre-order discount price going up then as well as the CD price? I guess so if it's a percentage off. I might order ours at the weekend then even though we don't go until October....

I totally forgot about the Photopass CD. It is great you mentioned it so I can add it to my long list. :3dglasses How far in advance should I order it if VR in December? Thanks.:thumbsup2

I ordered a code before our wedding trip and we didn't use it. IF it expires, I can't find it anywhere in the email. It better not expire!!!

That's good they at least honor it by providing another code.

I'm assuming the pre-order will go up, as well...but they haven't advertised it yet.

The website doesn't say how far in advance you have to purchase it...but the overall price goes up on the 16th, so we're assuming the pre-purchase will as well...

I've ordered mine (with the Visa code - you don't have to pay by visa to use the code by the way:thumbsup2).

Yes it appears that the code runs out after 60 days - but everyone on here seem to get it reinstated really quickly :thumbsup2 If not I shall just ask for my money back :)

Photopass is a great thing but I want to warn everyone to also bring along your own camera. Their equipment may look fancy but trust me... they are NOT professional photographers. To get that job they do not require you to have any photography experience. They don't ask for a portfolio. They literally say "Have you ever used a digital camera?" So while most of your photos will look okay.... also hand them your camera. Even if they roll their eyes when you ask them to take one with your own camera they are required to do so. In fact, they are trained to ask you if you want one with you own camera. When photopass began it was a different story but since it is so popular and they need so many people to fill all their many many locations their standards have gone down. They train them once they are hired but really... look the other way sometimes when someone just isn't getting it. =)

I called the main PhotoPass number this morning and was told that the pre-order price of $99.95 will NOT increase when the regular CD price increases to $149.95 tomorrow.

Of course, we all know that everyone you talk to at Disney will give you a different answer, but I hope it's true! :)

Thanks for checking with them... I HOPE that is true.

We didn't want to take a chance. Plus the 15% Disney Visa discount ends tonight too.

I called my fiance about what I'd read on the DIS at lunch, and we pre-paid Photopass since we have our DFTW Planning Session + Birthday vacation in September.

OMG, I'm so excited! :bride:
