Photo Opportunities?

DH and I have been on the 3-day a couple of times, and I've been a little disappointed with the photography opportunities on board. Most of it seemed very set up and staged to me. I loved the more natural pictures near the kids' pool and on Castaway Cay, but it seemed like that was limited to the family areas (we tend to stay in the adult areas). We're going on the 7 day soon, and I was wondering if there would be more roving photographers around. I'd like to get some pictures of us on the vacation without having to drag our camera around and ask people to take pictures

We did not see many roaming around at all. About the only time we noticed them was at disembarktion & CC. We were hoping to see more candid shots of our kids, but did not.

Other cruise lines do have the ships photographers roaming around all over the place, sometimes this is nice they take a nice picture when you are not expecting it, but also it can be intrusive.

DCL photographers were around at the character breakfast, and at all of the character meets, and a few times near the pool, but I do not remember them in the ports.

On princess they were at the other end, everywhere, half way up dunns river falls in Jamaica nearly made me fall back down, and on the Panama canal they went to the lock side to take pictures of us on the ship, that was quite nice as you personally do not get off.

Princess had them nearly at every evening meal and I didn't like that much, so in summary DCL could do more, and boost profits, on photos, but I wouldn't like it too often and everywhere.

Since our kids are older (both teens) I didn't see ANY candid shots of them taken during our cruise.

However, all of us did the Banana Boat ride on Castaway Cay and as we were coming back to the beach, there was a photographer in the water and he snapped a few pictures of us. I really liked the way it turned out and I was glad to have a candid shot of the 4 of us Here's what it looks like:

They also took professional pictures during dinner on Pirates Night, and at Palo during dinner.
