We recently spent a few days in Disneyland for the first time in many
years. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we saw -- especially what I call
the Photo Mosiacs. Every one we saw was better that the last.

Can anyone give me information on how these were created?

Back in 2004, I think, Disneyland asked guests to submit their pictures - you could submit them via email, mail, or drop them off at the park. They collected these pictures throughout the year, and then on May 5th unveiled most of them to the public. They have added a few more throughout 2005.

It was so cool when they did that. I sent in 6 pics and we are in 5 of the mosaics. That was the best idea! Here is one of the pics!

That is so cool!

I can't believe that I didn't submit any myself. I wish I had.

We're hoping to go in March and hoping to see them, we have three pictures in them.

Is there any way you can find out if you are in the mosaic? We were at DL in 2004 and they took pics of us and we had to sign some forms and that is when we found out about it, but we never did find out if our picture was used.

MARY JO!!! I would have thought that you of all Disneyland Fanatics (like myself) would have submitted some. We found ourselves in a couple more but, the pic of me and goofy was easier to take a pic of.

I think the mosaics are all non professional pics that people submitted. They emailed me to tell me what mosaics we were in and what pics were put in them.

Have you tried to do your own Photo Mosaics

They are both 12 x 18 posters

This is Epcot in OCT

They sent me an email of the mosaics we were in and approximately where. unfortunately, they are positioned so that without a ladder, I couldn't get a good picture of ours! There are some easy to se, but others are impossible!

When they took our pic they told us it was to be used for the mosaic for the 50th anniversary. We were told by the Disney photographer that some of the pictures were being taken by Disney photographers on site and some were submitted. They were going to email us as to its location and they never contacted us. I am assuming that must mean they didn't use it. How long are they going to be up for? It would be fun to check them out when we go back if they are still up.

There is a kiosk in DL and DCA that you can enter your name or your email address and print out a list of where they are. For awhile they didn't have any paper in them (like every time I checked for months, and everyone else I know complained there was no paper), plus they hadn't updated that database with info on the ones they had added. But the last time I checked they had them all in and had paper.

They were so desperate for more pictures that I sent in a bunch. They used a bunch multiple times and I think they ended up using our pictures over 20 times.

I am on a mission to take a picture of each photo mosaic in both parks plus close ups of our pictures before they go away.

Here's a link to an article on how they were going to make the photo mosaics.

I could be wrong, but I think the mosaics will be up long term. It looks like they were designed to stay up after the 50th ends. They contacted my mom for pics, but she's not tech saavy, so she didn't know how to send any in.

Oooooh chances are we might be there somewhere and don't even know it....how exciting. Somedays I swear I dont drink enough coffee but I just realized we (DH,DW,DS,DD and DS) will be in DL for the million dreams celebration.

The original paperwork stated that they would be up only for the 50th celebration. I hope they last longer. I would love for them to keep them up until necessary. I know not long after the stitch one went up part of it came apart and they had to fix it. If I recall it was a few weeks after going up that it needed repairing. The big CM/Guest Steamboat willie has also been repaired.

I understand not wanting to continually repair them, but it would be nice if they stayed awhile.

We visited DL last week and the mosaics were a wonderful suprise! They are absolutely gorgeous! I took pictures of several and zoomed in on a few as well. (some of you might be in my pictures! ;)) I wanted to take a picture of every mosaic but my DH kept saying "why are you taking pictures of every one...just do one or two." LOL
