Photo mats signed by characters?

I am planning to do this on our upcoming cruise but I am wondering, what size mat would be best? I guess in part this depends on how many characters sign . . . I don't want a big mat with a few signatures, or a small mat with a lot - what size did you all use?

Also, I would really love to see some of the signed mats - anyone willing to post a photo of theirs?

I used an 11x14 mat with a 5x7 photo hole. It worked out really well and fit in a 2 gallon size zip bag. I also bought a frame before we left and drew a pencil line around the mat that the characters signed inside of so the signatures didn't get covered by the frame. Also at Michaels in the scrapbook sticker aisle, they have a Disney Cruise sticker that I put at the bottom center of the mat when we got home. I put post it notes in its place on the mat so the characters didn't sign there.

I just remeasured ours. The outer dimensions are 12 X 14 inches.
The hole is 5.5 X 7.5 inches.
I recall I custom ordered them online as I couldn't/didn't want to find them locally.
We requested "all" signatures. You can ask for just a specific group too.
They have a form to fill out to included with your matte.

I've done a couple. Michael's or AC Moore - can't remember where we got them at.

Have a 11x14 with a 5x7 opening. I got this signed by all the ones they could fit (got about 13) - white and signed using different color markers.

And the other one is an 8x10 with a 4x6 opening. This is one is black and used a silver marker and only for the fab 4.

We did this on our last cruise...put a piece of masking tape all the way around the edge of the mat so the characters didn't sign there...we had a larger mat with an 8x10 opening and requested all of the characters...they filled most of the space! We put one of our cruise pics with Mickey in the mat and framed it...it's a great way to remember our cruise We packed it inside a garbage bag inside of our large suitcase and just hoped it wouldn't get bent...it didn't!

I did this and it is one of my fav. souvenirs. I did 2 different sizes, but love the bigger one. On the bottom I stenciled in the Disney Fantasy logo and put captain mickey stickers on the bottom. LOVE it! Don't know how to post a pic, but it turned out fantastic!

You will want to decide if you want the mat to be horizontal or vertical. We had 2 signed so went with one of each.

I have one ready for our Dream cruise in 30 days with our Granddaughters! It's a nice size with a 5x7 opening! About how much on the edge should I block off?
