Ok - I just got back from my photo place-
I had some great pics of the kids I had enlargements made of
8X10's for my wall (and others too...)
WELL
I didn't know that they actually print 35mm 8X12 (or something like that) and then crop them - well they didn't crop them cuz they didn't know where I would want to - I DON'T WANT TO
My pictures were PERFECT photos - and now I will have to have them professionally matted and framed (big $) - OR cut off feet in DS's and part of DD's face in the other as it is THAT much of a close up -
AAUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
I am sooooo mad -
anyone else have this problem?
What did you do?????????

I had that problem as well...My suggestion is to go to Walmart and try that machine that lets you make enlargements on your own ($4.95 I think) You might have better luck with that.

I wasn't happy either....

I usually go to CVS and use the Machine...the clerk helps you and you only have to pay for the one you like. It costs about $5.99
per print, but I love the way they come out. I think Walmart may have one too, but CVS is in walking distance...so I go there

I think my New scanner copier makes copies just as good as those - so maybe I will try that first.
I had some done before and NEVER noticed! But the photos had room to spare on the edges - these don't

I had copies made for family members too (instead of going out to have kids pics done somewhere else)
that was a very tough $47 lesson!

I was hoping you would all say - it must be the guy's fault and they can do them true 8x10!

Patty take them back. You shouldn't have to pay for something you can't use! I would! Especially if they now can't fit in a standard frame!

The one solution I can think of using your original photograpgh, would be to buy mat board and cut a mat yourself, of course this involves buying a mat cutter if you don't have one.(I do and I have used it a lot). The advantage to this is that you can buy a frame larger than the photo and cut the mat accordingly, (but of course this involves spending more money) but it would be cheaper than having it professionally done. Good Luck!

an excuse to buy something else -
LOL
I had said I wanted one. i just didn't think this soon
Maybe a christmas gift -
do they sell them at Mikes?
Where do you buy the uncut matting?

i tell you this scrapping thing has gotten me in a lot of trouble -
Maybe I should go back to having the kids pics done at Sears or Picture People?

Nope - can't do it now - to late - I've crossed that line!

I know, that's what I was thinking when I mentioned the mat cutter, another excuse to spend money. I think I have seen them at MIkes, I got a Logan mat cutter from DH as a christmas gift, I know he got it in a small art supply store near us. That is also where I have gotten the uncut mats. But the store has recently closed. I haven't asked at Mikes yet if I could just buy a sheet of whatever color I want, but I don't really see why they wouldn't sell it that way.

The pictures are beautiful!! I can see why you don't want to crop them.::yes::

Did you try uploading your original uncropped photos to snapfish.com. Right before you "pay' they offer you a chance to see what will be lost on your photo at different sizes. Try that......maybe sending away for them that way will get your size cropped right

Patty, you wouldn't have to have them customed framed. Just have a custom mat made and have it made to fit into a larger standard frame. That way you can keep the cost down on the frame.

Also, did you check Mike's? They seem to have quite a variety of sizes, not just the standard ones. Another place I found (This was a few years ago) was ikea, because everything they measured in was cm.

Good luck with whatever you do. The pictures are beautiful!
