I have lots of pictures of the castle , all taken on a tripod and all exactly alike apart from the changing lighting and/or fireworks. I would like to join them all together to make one big picture. Can I do this in microsoft photo editing or do I need to buy some other software? ( photoshop)?

If it can be done it microsoft can you please explain how?

Thanks in advance

Tony

That all depends on what your trying to accomplish. Are they all night photos? Or are they a mix of day, night, fireworks, evening, etc. An overall theme would give more info to work with about what you want to do. As to combining, sure. If they are all taken from near the same spot with the same focal length, it would be simple to combine them, if there is alot of variation, again, more difficult.

Thanks, They are all identical night shots from a framing and focal length point of view, just with different lighting and /or fireworks. I was looking to join they together somehow, like a patchwork quilt but I havn't got a clue how to do it.

Look for some action like "collage" or "tile photos".

I am not familiar with MS PE but if it does not do it, I am sure there is freeware that will.

How many pics do you have? You can get andreamosaic and it will make a collage that looks like a picture. It is also free.

In photoshop, you can take all the photos and align them all on top of one another. Then you can create layer masks over each one of the photos and erase back in the different layers. So essentially, you'll have one castle, and then erase back in all the different fireworks. It's more of a composite at that point.
Is that what you were talking about? I only know how to do it in photoshop and I'm not familiar with the Microsoft product you are referencing.

Picasa2 is free and has a feature that will do at least 9(?) pictures. I've never printed one out...maybe some else on here has???...I would think you'd have to print it at 11x 14??? Easy to use.

Thanks guys I'll have a look at the andreamosaic as that is one thing i also wanted to do. the patchwork style picture I was looking at would be a print onto canvas of 42 ins. x 24 ins to go on the wall.

here is an example of the picture collage:

it is made from a file of about two thousand photos of a local theater group.

Nice picture.:thumbsup2
I have had a go and my picture keeps coming out with random black tiles, any ideas on how to stop this?

I would have to guess there is a black pic in the folder. When the program wants to make black area it is the best choice. But they are not right next to each other because of the minimum distance setting.
