There is only one contest I ever enter, you can find it right here each and every week

Be careful when you enter online contests. Make sure you read the contest rules, most of the time you end up transfering ownership of your work to the website or company running the contest for them to use/sell/do whatever they want without any compensation even if you do not win or place.

Every year my local newspaper would run a contest and give away new P&S cameras to the weekly winner and a new dSLR to the overall winner. I entered a few years in a row, but I could not compete with the hordes of cute baby/toddler entries.

www.Betterphoto.com has a monthly contest with about 8 categories. It is judged by the staff of the site which include professional photographers. You would have to pay a membership fee to join the site and enter the contest.

www.digitalimagecafe has daily winners that are judged by the members of the site. This would also require a membership fee. There are no prizes for the daily category winner. The prizes are awarded if your photo is picked best for the month and they are pretty nice.

You can google photo contests and find other sites. But do be careful about entering and losing rights to the photograph.

photographycorner.com also has Photo of the Month and Photo of the Year contests to enter. I won a one year smugmug power account at photographycorner. It was for a scavenger hunt contest not a photo entered but you never know when they will have new contests pop up and what the prize will be.
