Just got back from WDW and posted some of the better pics. I'd love for folks to check 'em out and add comments. I can only improve with feedback!

Personally I would like to see some pictures of that VRod you have as your avatar. That's a sweet looking bike.

Very nice Ken!

You seem to have a good eye for composition and lighting. Like you, I really like the 'magic light' that comes just after dawn and just before dusk, it makes for the more dramatic photos.
You waited for the monorail too, nothing looks more forlorn than an empty monorail beam! ;)

The V-Rod is nice too!

This was my favorite.

That photo is a story unto itself. :)

My only suggestion is that closer is sometimes not better as in the umbrella photo. Other than that, really nice pictures. :thumbsup2

Wow beautiful pictures. Since you seem to know what your doing with the camera do you have any suggestions on fireworks and Fantasia pictures? None of my pictures last year of these things turned out. :confused3 :sad2:

I think they are great, all of them. I love the lighting and the composition on them all.

I love your pictures! I am partial to your umbrella picture! :teeth:

Hi Everyone,

First off, thanks for the nice comments. And thanks for taking the time to look! :cool1:

Jeff - I have loads of VRod pix, but their on my VRod forum. Colorado hit 75 today, so I took her for a spin. Fun, fun, fun! :moped:

LBAK - Ya, I saw those umbrellas and just HAD to get a shot. It was a little rushed (we were leaving the park), but it came out okay! Virgo10 wasn't as wild about it, but as you could probably tell, I look for tight compositions, preferably with deep saturated colors. A tiny bit of high clouds would have improved that photo, but you can't have everything!

MinnieNurse - Fireworks and Fantasia huh? I'm sure you can get LOTS of suggestions on this web site, but I suggest starting with the New York Institute of Photography Tips on photographing fireworks. They have a write-up on how to do it, and a seperate page on photographing fireworks with a digital camera.

Fantasia follows many of the same principles, but it's harder due to the light being lower. Fireworks are BRIGHT and longer exposures can actually help. Fastasia is not as bright and needs shorter exposures. This means a fast lens and/or fast film. Tough to do without decent gear. I'd set the speed to around 1/60 (or faster if possible), and open up the exposure all the way. Focus will be critical, and you'll have to experiment to get it right. If it's always fuzzy, there probably isn't enough light for your camera. Let me know if you have success!

Thanks again everyone,

Ken

You'll have to send me a link to that VRod forum. Seventy-five today huh? Colorado didn't look that warm at Coors Field tonight though a Diamondbacks win did bring warmth and happiness around our house. I'd love to be able to get back on my bike but I'm a few months away from that still. I haven't quite got enough strength back for a Nikon D200 with a 70-200mm lens so I am pretty sure the doctor would say a Night Train Softtail is still a little out of the realm of possibility.

Great pictures though, they've given me some great ideas for shots when we go in June. Although we miss the end of the flower and garden festival I am hoping there will still be some of the topiaries left when we get there on the 16th.

Nice work, I really like the pic of the umbrellas in the china pavilion.
