Photo CDs

So to do that I would have to have it loaded online right? But mine have all been cropped, etc before I loaded online. I did try to find it on photosahop and it looks like it is a resolution 72 per inch for an unedited picture.
If I just click on the picture in the folder and hit properties ,I don't have a choice of tabs. it gives me very little info on it.

That's fine - and I appreciate the info.

Thanks for doing that for me! :goodvibes

I'm leaning toward purchasing a small photo package so I can have a few images with the labels and clipart, and then just the rest with my camera taken by the DLC photogs.

I'd like to have the DLC photogs take some pictures but my wife said it was tacky. Not sure how to respond. The DLC photogs are being paid in hopes that you will purchase something right?

Anyone ever encounter problems with the DLC photogs when asking them to use YOUR camera? Also I have to wonder how good the pictures they take of you will turn out considering everyones camera is a little different?

I know point and shoots are fairly straight forward.

The photographers will not take photos with your camera, only with theirs. You can then have a look at the photos at the photo kiosks or the actual prints at Shutters.

For the character photos or the photo with the Captain, there are other cast members present and they are happy to take photos with your camera. The photos often turn out very nice and have a different perspective from the photos taken by the photographer, but the cast members that take them with your camera are not professional photographers.

Thank you so much!

Click the Details tab and under the Image section it should say the dimensions and the resolution. For example, an image I am looking at now is about 4 MB in size and the Details tab shows it as 4320 x 3240 pixels with a resolution of 72 dpi.

Thanks!

This is the information from the picture file as I loaded it onto our computer.
Original file for pictures:
Dimensions 4233x2848
Width 4288 pixels
Height 2848 pixels
Horizontal & Vertical resolution 72 dpi
bit depth 24
resolution unit 2
color represesntation sRBG

Print ready file for pictures:
Dimensions 2400x1598
Width 2400 pixels
Height 1598pixels
Horizontal & Vertical resolution 72 dpi
bit depth 24
resolution unit 2
color represesntation sRBG

Also, while standing in line we are either with friends we are cruising with or talk to the other people around us. Most people are willing to take a picture with your camera for the non-character pictures while you take one of them with their camera.

Hi DolphinGirl47,

Thanks for that info - I was definitely thinking they were like the photopass photographers at WDW - they are always happy to take one with their camera then take one with yours...

Wow - those actually sound like pretty nice images. Hmmm... between that and DolphinGirl's info about the photographers not willing to use your personal camera - I may need to rethink my strategy...

Thanks for posting those details! :thumbsup2

That's a great suggestion! :)

Image resolution of 2400x1598 is less than a 4 megapixel image (3.8 to be exact)...best way to determine the quality of the image is to look at the average image size, which was (on average) about a 900KB (less than 1 MB) picture.

Meanwhile my ($125) Canon PowerShot SD1200IS point and shoot captures images at 3648x2736 with image sizes around 2.5-3.0MB.

So, it all depends on what you are looking for - I expected MUCH higher resolution than they provided on the CD - they are using digital SLR cameras (I wish I had written what they were using) but to have image resolution/file size for be 1/2 to 2/3rds of what my little point and shoot provides is quite a disappointment, especially based on the price they charge for the CD.

I am not sure about the set up in the parks, but the photographers on the ships are not Disney staff. They are employed by a company called The Image Group.

I had the photo CD twice now, on our Transatlantic Cruise last year and on the Panama Canal Cruise this year. I love my photos.

Here is my suggestion to get photos on one CD:

1. Pick one stateroom to be the main stateroom and provide that same KTTW card every time photos are taken, even if the people don't stay in that stateroom. CDs are created using a combination of stateroom and facial recognition.

2. Upon boarding the ship, get everyone in the first embarkation photo so that facial recognition starts picking them up right away for that KTTW card. You can take multiple embarkation photos with different group configurations. Just get one with everybody in it.

3. Check printed photos and kiosks regularly and find photos missing from the kiosk CD. Bring the prints of photos which are missing to a CM, and ask them to put it on stateroom xxxx (the main one you have identified). If they are "suspicious" (but they won't be), you can show them the individuals on the embarkation photo and prove they are part of your group.

I don't think DCL is trying to split families, they just don't want groups banding together to get one CD and then making copies of it to share. You could see a "share my photo CD" thread popping up here, couldn't you?

We have gotten several photo CD's from cruises and love them. We take a lot of "fun" shots!

Can anyone who sailed recently confirm that they were able to sucessfully purchase a CD with family in 2 Cabins? After reading this thread, I believe that if we take the embarkation picture with my brother's family and if we make sure all the photos are put on the KTTW card for one stateroom, then we shouldn't encounter any issues, right?

I guess the only problem would be if the KTTW card is used for the second stateroom and it doesn't include anyone from the first stateroom, right?

We are cruising to Alaska next week and I would like to have a good idea of what to expect. I am wondering if the CD may just be too big of a hassle. :headache:

Definitely 'Wonder' the same thing! Not willing to buy the CD at the beginning of the cruise only to be surprised that 1/2 the pics are missing of the rest of the family in the other stateroom!

Darn, this picture thing is stressing me out1 :headache:

We were a family of three staterooms and purchased one CD. That being said, ALL of our photos contained at least one person from the cabin that bought the CD. Most of ours were group photos with the whole family or all of the kids in them, and then we took some configurations like all of the girls and all of the guys, etc.

Like someone mentioned above, I don't think they want to split up families, but they don't want too many people banding together to purchase one CD either. The CD is expensive, but at the same time, professional photos ARE expensive. We paid almost as much for a session at Sears a couple of years ago and only got about ten photos with the Sears package whereas our DCL photopass CD had over 100 images on it.

On another thread I was just told that the CD is $249 on Dream, which I am hoping is correct. I was told by a CM when I had originally inquired about he CD that only group pics of my immed family and my parents(who are in the cabin next door ) as well as our family pics would be in but none of the ones with just my parents since they were in a diff cabin. She said they absoutely will not allow them t be on the CD unless one of us are in the pic as well. I am thinking I wil need to stand next to them in every pic and then photo edit myself out later instead of buying a second cd for what will be much less photos than us and the boys.

Have them use your stateroom card when they take their photos, then check the kiosks to make sure it worked. The computer doesn't know who is in the stateroom, it just knows the stateroom key and facial recognition when no key is swiped. If you are missing photos when viewing the kiosk, take the printed copies to the desk and ask for them to be added to the photo CD for stateroom xxxx. That has always worked for me (but keep in mind we have everyone in that initial embarkation photo).

I can confirm the CD is $249 on the Dream 5-nights.

It depends on the length of the cruise. Our 3 night was $199,I beleive
