I read people are suggesting the photo pass/cd. What is it? And, is it worth it? We are a family of seven and I do scrapbooking for each of the 5 kids. Should we get the photo pass? I am doing the planning for a trip the last week of August. :grouphug:

The photopass is used by the Disney CM's to take pictures of your family during your visit. You can purchase the CD either before (discount) or after your trip. There is a way to add borders and designs to the pictures and then you can have them printed. We are going in a couple of weeks and I am planning to pre-order my photopass. It's a good deal if you pre-pay and this way I will be in some of the pictures!

If you plan to purchase 8 or more of the pictures that the Photopass Photographers take of your family...the CD is worth it. The pictures cost 12.95 each at the parks. However, if you purchase the CD, you own the rights to the pictures and can make as many copies as you chose. I scrapbook so I always purchase the CD. In a week trip, I usually have 200-300 pictures on it.

Where are the photopass photographers? We only saw them twice (once at MGM & once at MK in toontown). If I do that prepaid special offer for the CD, I want to know where they are so I can get lots of pics.

They are around... Sometimes you have to look for them espically with LOTS of people around. But they are even at the waterparks in the water taking pictures. It seems that since they really bagan pushing the "Photopass System.. I see more of them"

What happens if you have more pictures then will fit on one cd? We are going for a 2 week trip and I know we will have lots of pictures. Can anyone tell me?

They will send you however many CDs it takes to accomadate your photos.

We love photopass...I am actually in some pics;) ....however...I am a bit of a shutterbug and didn't think the quality was anything extra. They are fine and you can even enlarge without much trouble so it is really not a huge issue.

I have questions about the Photopass. I know you can preorder for $99 and you have to pay more afterwards if you didn't preorder. What does that get you? Is that just the CD of however many pictures you have taken? I was reading the official Disney line on the website, but it doesn't tell you much. It says something about how the $99 will then be deducted from your order when you order it after you get back. So, what else are you having to pay for? Are they just assuming you'll order actual hard copies? Do you have to order actual hard copies?

Sorry, I know I have lots of questions. I'll try and be more concise. So, for anyone who's actually bought and received this disc:
-Does the $99 get you a CD of all the pics you have taken at the parks or is there an additional cost once you get back (excluding shipping, tax, etc)?
-We're going with another family, not related. Can we share the CD?
-How prevalent are the photographers around the parks? Are they hard to find?
-Any other random quirks you liked or didn't like with the PhotoPass?

TIA!

I pre-ordered......

*You get an e-mail with a code once you pay the $99. (To be used AFTER you get home. It will deduct the $$$ due on check-out from the photo pass site)
*Go and enjoy your vaction....harass every photographer in sight....really not that hard they are ALL around even in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon.
*Once you get home upload your pp card number (on the back of your card... I took a photo of the number in case I lost the card)
VIP make all of your photo edits BEFORE you check-out or you will not be able to get the free Disney boarders etc....
*Once satisfied with your photos purchase the CD use your code to deduct the $$ and in a week you will get your CD(s).

Hope that helps...we had about 170 pics for a week trip one family of 3:upsidedow

oh...I am not sure but I think two families could share since the PP site allows you to add more than one card #. We had a card for the parks but got a much smaller wrist band card @ Typhoon Laggon.

When you buy the CD you get all the rights to those photos so...... I got prints from a local store after I got my CD....Much cheaper that way!

Excellent! Thanks so much for the answers! So, the $99 gets you the CD and you don't HAVE to pay anything additional once you get back and "order" it?

Nope, nothing extra. It includes domestic shipping, there's no tax (or it's included), no need to buy anything more.

The biggest GOOD part of the CD isn't just that you have a CD of your pictures, but that you have the photo release for those pictures. Try to get a release from a typical wedding photographer! It's either a ton of money, years of waiting, or just never. To have that release is golden...if you bought a print from them, you have that one print, and NO permission to reprint or copy it. But with the CD you have official permission to make as many copies (non-commercial, of course) for your family and friends as you wish.

Yes absolutely you can go in on it with your traveling companions. (That's the foundation on which photopass "shares" are based, that you're going in on it with brand new friends, LOL.) When you order it you can just order the one CD then choose to copy it (non-commercial use of the pictures), or you could get them their own snazzy CD with jewel case :upsidedow by paying 19.95 (or .99?) for another official copy of the CD when you order.

Ooh, excellent! Y'all are great! This sounds like a wonderful thing that we'll most likely be doing. :thumbsup2
