There are public pay phones dotted around the various parks. It may be best to use a pre-paid card to call home. You enter a string of numbers then follow with the home phone number. these are available from most of the supermarkets
If you get a park map it has the pay phones marked on them and there are plenty of them. I would get the pre-paid card as its lots cheaper and really easy to use. If you tell the person at the other end you are on a pay phone they tend not to keep you chatting about unimportant things!
You can often get the cards at the welcome meetings on your first day.
I'm not sure if this applies to all pre-paid cards, but the ones we've had (bought in Florida) have been quite expensive to use in pay-phones. There's been a connection charge of about $1.50 for each call. We use the cards on the hotel room phone and have never been charged by the hotel to do that, but I have heard of others who have had to pay a connection fee
I'm not sure if there's anywhere on Disney property where you can buy the cards, but you can buy pre-paid phone cards here for use in the US (travel agents / post offices). We have found these to be a little more expensive compared to the ones available in Florida from Publix / 711 shops, etc. (not much use unless you'll have a hire car)
Last time I bought a $10 phone card I used it from a pay phone and I only got about 30 seconds of talk time with it! What we do now is before we go we buy a phone card in this country and give the pin to everyone who would call and then ask them to call us. A £5 phone card will give you about 1000 minutes.
We always use our EKall card, you can buy online and top up either by phone or online and it is ok for using at pay phones, we didn't find it too expensive.
My Dad is currently in the US (New England though) and he bought, from a normal shop, an International phone card, it cost him $5 and it had 500 mins of calls on, he's been phoning here loads
we brought a couple of cards last time we were there and they lasted all of our two weeks and more
we got ours from the local shop and from the shop on site where we stayed
i would reccommend getting one as the first yr we went e got charged $50 for just one phone call home where as the phone cards we got were $10 and lasted a good while
we always use IDT.. Global Talk.. and its really cheap. You dont need to go and get a card from anywhere... just sign up for it.. and then you can load your card up with a credit card when you need to.

Yes they do - we get them from Publix or 711 stores and they last us for a few trips , but the OP has said they won't have a car so this isn't really an option for them.
Many of the 'tacky' discount grocery stores sell them on I-drive and the 192, one's like Florida Star are very good and a $10 pre-paid card goes a long way and could easily last the whole holiday.
The Cape Kennedy store at MCO airport also sell very good pre-paid phone cards for $10 or $20.
You just get a pin number and then dial the UK number after that, easy to use and good value for money.
There are websites where you can buy them in the UK before you go also.
Just search in google and you will find some.
If you have a laptop with you then you could use skype to phone home. The person you are telephoning doesn't need skype, you can just call their normal number.
When we went to New Zealand last year thats what we used all the time. We were there for a month and didn't use the £10 credit we put onto our account before we left the UK.
It's very easy to sign up to (must be I managed It!), you are not tied to a contract. It worked great for us.
I hope this reply gives you another option to consider
