Everyone here is so helpful, I thought i'd give this a try. After my friend just got back from vacation with a damaged phone from the water, I'm now worried about protecting mine on the water rides. Does anyone have any waterproof cases to suggest or their technique to keeping their phones undamaged?

I would just keep a ziploc sandwich bag in you pocket to put it in when you are going on a wet ride. Cheap and easy...and you can store it just about anywhere.

x2 on the Ziploc idea.

I keep mine in my zippered cross-body purse. Nothing ever happens to it or my camera. :)

We just put them in a small carrier bag that we had been given when we had bought something. We put our small camera, both our iphones and my lanyard with park passes/fast passes in into a small bag and they were fine.

just stuff a ziploc sandwich baggie into one of your pants/shorts pockets and then before you get onto splash (or grizzly), pull out the baggie, pop the phone in, and stuff it all back in your pocket. easy-schmeazy. :cool2:

We never take our cell phones with us into the parks. There is no call important enough to take my time away from the magic and wonder of disneyland..:yay:

We also do this and none of the phones or cameras were damaged.

It has nothing to do with calling. We post wait times on the Walkee ap, play games while we wait in line and stay in touch with each other when we split up.

We don't bring them to talk to the outside world, but to talk to each other if we split up. Our phones don't have anything fun on them, but I feel better knowing we can find each other if we need to. In fact, if we did get a call it would be because there was an emergency since everyone knows we are there.

Of course, if you had a phone that is mainly for work, I wouldn't bring that either. I'd pick up a phone that was just for family and close friends and bring that instead.

I too use a ziplock bag. I also put my socks in the ziplock bag since there is nothing worse than wet socks. I then put the entire bag into my backpack which I take on the ride with me. That thing is waterproof. (probably not really waterproof but it has taken a severe soaking on Splash mountain and everything inside was dry.)

Worse comes to absolute worse you can get a small plastic bag from a gift shop and wrap your phone in it. That should protect it. I have done that too when I did not have a plastic bag.

Seems I always end up with one of the clear bags from the giftshops...always end up with something I'm carrying separately from whatever bag I have...

But I also ride the wet rides wearing a poncho, and put my stuff under the poncho on my lap. However, since I've gotten my backside drenched by doing that (b/c it pulls the poncho out of position), I've now started putting my bag into one of the plastic bags from the giftshops!

We do carry our phones, definitely. In '06 my FIL became very ill while we were on vacation, and while the day he fell ill my husband was not at SeaWorld with us (b/c his back was hurting too much for some reason...coincidentally his father had a kidney infection that turned far far worse, hmm), he certainly could have been, and the only way he would have found out was through his phone. His mom has had two heart attacks, my dad has had one, and we don't always tell all of our family members when we're off to Disneyland...it's absolutely vital that our phones are with us, so we can send whichever adult is needed (b/c with a small son and no regular babysitters, it's useless to have BOTH parents at a hospital) back, if something were to happen.

You keep your group together all the time? No one runs for fastpasses or has to use the bathroom? We split up, the girls like rides that we don't, they get a phone, we have a phone. I don't take work calls but if family calls I want to know what's going on. If there's an emergency I want to be reachable, also we have a friend who stays at our house with our dogs, we have to be reachable for her.

OP I just put my phone & camera in my cross body bag but I turn it so the front stays dry, if I had a bag I'd put my stuff in it but I don't shop until the end of the day so I don't usually have one. DBF leaves his phone in his pocket and as drenched as we got yesterday his phone is just fine. :)

DH uses a ziploc bag also. I keep mine in the backpack and so far I haven't had any problems with it.

And we always keep our phones on us- there are times we split up (when one child doesn't want to do a ride or something) and need to call eachother to catch up. And you never know when a family emergency could happen back home - which has happenend while we were on vacation before.

Not only am I an avid ziplock carrier, but I also find (if you have the ability) its handy when you carry different sizes. I usually will toss a 1 gallon ziplock in the backpack to store not only our phones, but our cameras and anything else that might get damaged. When your handling not only your stuff, but your kids phones/cameras as well these come in handy.

We also threw in extras to store back up clothes for DS in case we had an accident (he never did) or he wanted to play in any water areas. Afterward we would just toss the wet clothes in the ziplock bag and it wouldnt damage any of our other belongings.

Hope that helps!

Are you related to my husband!?!?! :rotfl2:
We do the same thing,- multiple sized bags :thumbsup2

Last time I was in DCA, we found the most amazing thing! FREE lockers by Grizzly! And so simple. I believe they're good for 2 hours, but I could be wrong. All I know is they were just perfect to pop valubles in for the ride and easy to claim when we were done.

Yep, that is what they are there for. I've never used them though so I don't know how often they are full. Good deal if on is available. :thumbsup2
