Now that the time for phone interviews is upon us... How did everybody do?
I think mine went pretty well!
For anybody that hasn't had their interview yet, I have one piece of advice that everyone is giving: Just relax! It's not nearly as stressful as we all think it is.
Just playing the waiting game now.

I just had mine last night. I think it went pretty well overall, it seemed like I said "umm" a lot which made me upset at myself everytime I did.

Beforehand, I was definitely stressing more than I should have, it was no biggie.

Mine is on Tuesday. What roles were you interested in/what questions did they ask?

First they confirm stuff from the application, like the places you want (Florida/Cali), the program you're interested in (spring, spring advantage), previous work/volunteer experience.

The roles I was looking at are Lifeguard/Recreation (couple years of experience lifeguarding/running a pool), Attractions, and maybe Lodging and Food/Beverage.

She asked me a few questions regarding my work experience such as problems I've had to deal with and handling stressful situations. Then how I would handle different types of situations (one question was, how would handle a situation where a child's favorite character was gone for the day). Asked about how I would handle different roles, such as being a lifeguard, speaking on a microphone, working food/beverage, and operations/attractions.

Good luck!

My top 3 were Attractions, Merchandise and character.

She asked basically all the typical questions EXCEPT the big one everyone talks about. Why the Disney college program?

She asked about previous work experience and a lot about if I'm okay memorizing speeches and talking in front of large groups.

Good luck!

I think I did pretty well on mine. I kinda rambled & I said uh/um a few times towards the beginning but I think I managed to avoid that for the majority of the call. I made her laugh once, so that made me feel good lol.

The trick is to have fun with it. If they're giving you a call, it means it's a good sign. It's really a follow up on the application and the interviewer is trained to get an idea of who you are as a person, even on the phone.

Just relax. Go online and look up questions that might be on an interview before you take it. Be sure to slot the time they are going to call you. Be yourself. Be honest. Don't stress too much, and have fun with it.

If you have a question, ask. At the end of my interview, I asked the person on the phone how she likes doing interviews, and how it's possible for her to conduct an effective one over the phone. I was genuinely interested. Do things like that and you'll be ok.

I am so nervous for my phone interview. It's tomorrow night at 8:15 EST and I'm more nervous this time than on my previous two applications/interviews. I have practiced like crazy and am praying that this goes well for me!

Being nervous is never a bad thing. It gives you energy and keeps you alert. Having too much nervousness can hurt though. If you feel like you're at this point, one simple trick that I learned from my acting classes is to release some of that tension through muscle control.

Here's how it works. You start by tensing up your lower body muscles first. So your feet, calves thighs, working your way up. You tense and hold. Don't let go. Continue to work your way up your body: abs, chest, arms, etc, until you are finally completely tensed up bottom to top. Hold for a few seconds, then release. Don't forget to keep breathing.

This will help release some of that energy being built up and hopefully calm you.
