Hi Everyone! Great forum and there's so much information for me to learn here. I've got a question that I haven't been able to find an answer. Does anyone know if there's any cell phone carrier that has problems with coverage in the parks? I've got two cell phones with T-mobile as one carrier and Verizon as the other. Just wondering which one would be the best to bring. I'm not going to use it for any conversations, just to locate family members when we get separated. I hate the rude person on the cell phone with no regards for his/her surroundings as much as the next person. Thanks.

I'm not positive about your answer, so I'm sure someone will come along with better advice. However, I can tell you that Verizon has a very strong presence in Florida with lots of towers, whereas T-Mobile is known in the area for not so strong service. T-mobile may be just fine. Again, I'm not sure b/c I haven't used them. But, I'm fairly confident you won't go wrong with Verizon.

We used Verizon in the parks in October, didn't have any problems except for occasionally DEEP inside a couple of buildings (don't remember which ones, but, was VERY much the exception). So, I'd say you're likely to be safe with VerizonWireless.

Enjoy the Magic!

Good info to know. We have cingular and will have the cell for emergencies but other than that don't anticpate using it much. It's reassuring to know I can be reached if needed.

My 19 year old DS spent most of our vacation last summer talking with his girlfriend on his cell phone! We have Verizon and I would say that he was complaining a lot about not having a signal. He did say that in the top of Spaceship Earth when you come out into the stars area he had 4 bars! I certainly hope he wasn't trying to call her during the ride but was just checking the signal! :)

Parks have never been a problem for me with Verizon, but have dropped calls at CBR and the Poly. Other hotels were fine (and I've done all but a couple.)

The funny thing (to me, anyway) is that my Verizon always works great at home, but I have a friend who was ALWAYS dropping calls. Her phone works great all over WDW!

OKay I have tmobile and I had it on rides I didn't have it on before. I had no service problems at all with T-mobile so you should be good to go. I got calls while on Tower of Terror and Great Movie Ride. Had service on Spaceship Earth

We live in Orlando and visit the parks frequently. we have Verizon, and have never had any problem in the parks.

I have nextel and dw has verizon and bil has t-mobile,none of us had any problems with cell phone use at the parks. I had some issues with nextel while staying at cbr but if i went outside the room it worked fine.

Great to know that I should be ok. My T-Mobile phone is smaller than the Verizon one, so I'd rather take that one but know that T-Mobile's coverage isn't great everywhere. Glad to hear that others have had luck with T-Mobile. Thanks again for all your responses.

DW and I also use Cingular Wireless, and the service is great. We carry them in the parks everyday to keep track of family, and its great for the mobil to mobil at no charge, or roaming.

Oh goody! Not that I want our very first non-youngin's trip interrupted but there's huge peace of mind they can call us or I can call them if need be. I try not to be a worry wart but it's in my nature to expect something to happen; then when it doesn't, I'm happy and relieved. :D

I used to have Verizon, and I would occasionally have trouble if I was standing near the monorail tracks when one went by. Other than that, no trouble. I have T-Mobile now, and no trouble with it either (in fact, it works a little better inside the resorts than the Verizon one did).

anotehr cingular user who has had no problem with service at the parks!! or the resorts. I agree its useful for having to keep track of family!!

I've had Verizon and I think that the service has gotten progressively better throughout WDW.

I've found T-Mobile to have the best coverage throughout the property. Sprint worked okay at the parks, but was weak at the all stars. Verizon was always weak in some places, but I haven't used them in years. I believe Nextel would have good coverage since WDW uses them for CM's, but I've never used them.

I have t-mobile, and I never had great service, but it was adequate. I rarely had it on though.
