Phone call regarding "slight" change in terms

We have been DVC members since 2007. I have received two messages from DVC over the last month, both times John (perhaps my guide left) mentions that he needs to inform me of a slight change to the terms of our membership. He never leaves a last name or an extension when he calls.

Any members out there have an idea what this call could be about? I don't want to call and listen to a sales spiel.

We are heading to AKV for a few nights next week. I think DVC sees that and is using the slight modification as a way to make a sales pitch.

I checked, and the number definitely belongs to DVC; at least others have gotten calls from DVC from that number.

The thing that is odd to me is that changes in terms usually show up in print form, not through phone calls.

I think the guide is just trying a new angle to get me to call him back.

DVD does not phone message changes in the terms, rules or regulations that may apply to your membership. It always issues them in writing. It would be crazy for it to do otherwise because having reps do it by phone could lead to people saying different things and it is an invitation to committing timeshare law violations and a lawsuit.

Sales reps, even though they are likely told not to do so, may sometimes use knowledge of changes to entice sales and leak upcoming changes for that purpose. That is possibly what is going on.

I have received a number of those calls over the past few weeks - haven't returned them yet. They did leave a name and number - they also followed up with an e-mail after I didn't return the call.

I think it is for a change in my guide. From what I have read here, Michelle has moved on.

Leaving next week, although I am not staying in a DVC resort. Probably should call them .

If your guide is Michelle M, then yes she is gone. She was my guide and last week I got a call from a new guide and also an email follow up. He was nice, but I will really miss Michelle. She is not "gone", she went "up" to another position, so is still with the company. My new person is David.

I got a call a couple of months ago regarding "a change in my membership". I called back and my guide retired and I have a new one.

I received a very similar call a couple months ago. The caller left a message about changes to my membership so I returned the call. Seems my previous guide was no longer at DVC and my new guide took over his account and was trying to sell more points.:cool1:

My guide was Kevin M. Mailings used to have his name on them, but the last few have not.

My guess was new guide trying to sell points. I'm not calling back. No money for points... :rotfl2:

We got a similar call about a slight change in our "points". All of these seem a poor choice in wording when leaving a message as they seem to infer a change in the membership terms, or in my case, possibly a correction to points accounting which is never positive.

Kevin M is out guide too and I also noticed that our mailings dont seem to have his name on them anymore....did he leave???? I really liked him!

My guide was Michelle M. She was our guide for quite some time... at least 10 years -- since before she was married. The person who left their name and number was not David. I don't need a sales pitch at this point, so I'll return the call ----- later ----

Our guide retired dear Kim but we never got a call from a new guide at all in fact when I called to inquire about Hawaii they assigned a new one to us at that time. We have never gotten calls from member services.

Ditto. Our guide never calls. I'm ok with that.
