What is the best thing to do? Buy a PC phone card for my (Bell) cell phone? Buy a pay-as-you-go mobile phone in USA (Tracfone)? Buy 2 pay-as-you-go phones?

We only have 1 cell phone now, but I would like to be able to communicate with my DH when we are separated in WDW.

Any advice?

We always bring Walkie-Talkie at Disney, it works great, and we keep in touch all day long without paying more money! :goodvibes

Good to hear this works. We bought a couple of "Cobra" walkie-talkies at Costco this summer with that in mind, but don't really know how well it'll work...Paid a FORTUNE to use our Rogers cells just a couple of times last spring.

WE have some cobra too and it works great! Be sure to bring the rechargeable base!!!! :wizard:

We too have the cobra walkies from Costco. We took them with us to Wonderland (yes I know a poor substitute for disney) and found we couldn't use them. It seemed that the staff all use the same channels and they were so busy we could never get a word in edgewise.

I had abandoned all hope of using them at Disney for the same reasons. Glad to know they are still an option.

Hey there most of you: no comment about the walkies just wanted to give you a big CDN :welcome: I just love it when one more of us join the party:

We have the new Cobra GMRS radios that we plan on using they have a 27 KM range to them we have used them all over the place this summer they are awesome.

We found the walkie talkies worked well .... intermittently. There were definitely times where there was so much interference that they were pretty much useless. The range is not much more than about 300-500 yards for most and some of the parks are a lot bigger than that... We didn't like them because we couldn't depend on them.

The last time we went we both temporarily switched our plans to one that allowed free long distance and roaming --- we switched back to our regular plans when we returned. We never had any coverage issues while in Orlando. Since you only have one cell here you could always do that with your current cell plan and then just buy a cheap pay as you go phone while in Florida.

Ah... to be in WDW again... . Hope you have a great trip.

Maybe someone out there can help BUT I seem to remember reading on the boards that dis actually rents walkie Talkies that will work in the parks.
:confused3 :thumbsup2
