I had to book @ $262 per ticket for Oct. I didn't want to chance waiting for SW fares to come out.

Last yr I got Airtran @ $176

What's everyone getting from philly?

I usually see SWA at $79 each way or less. If you can, BWI has even cheaper SWA flights. Give them a try.

I heard that airfare would be higher yhis summer, but I got SWA for June for $59 each way out of PHL. THey might be a little higher than last year, but I still see plenty of flights for under $79 each way.

I agree. Prices are way up. I locked in $285 non-stop rt for Christmas week and am glad I did. They are well over $500 now. I think the days of $176 a ticket are gone. $175 used to be my target price from PHL-MCO in the past. Now you are lucky if you can find anything less than $225. Even Spirit out of ACY is high. I'm sure oil prices have a lot to do with it.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Used to average $175 r/t. Just paid $235 r/t for Sept. So, using rewards miles saved me absolutely nothing. I just paid the same amount for 3 tix as I do for 4.

I bought our tickets from SW for approx. $176 RT($79 each way) about two weeks ago for the end of June. Now the same flight is $233 RT. I definitely think summer fuel demand is driving up the prices (and pre-2001 travel numbers are back). Anything under $250 now may be considered a "deal" this summer.

I got PHL to MCO for $177.10 RT (purchased each leg one way) on 3/10. I didn't have funds to purchase the day the fares were released and almost bought tickets costing $128 one-way.

My DF, who is traveling with us. waited a couple of weeks and got her PHL to MCO for $59 each, though she opted to take the next flight out. She hasn't been able to capture lower fares for the return trip - still hoping they will have another sale and checking southwest's website and emails daily.

For our March spring break tickets...original cost $266 rt. Then I was able to pick up a sale one direction for 4 of us at $39 one way. So, the cost dropped to about $180 for 4 of us and the other to being $266. If my dd had had more flexibility with school I could have saved a little more on her ticket.
